Swaziland’s ‘prettiest virgins’ dance topless for King Mswati III, every August, hoping to be his next wife

A common tradition in Swaziland (Swazi) permits the King, Mswati, to choose a new bride every year.
According to reports by Talk Africa, it has been a long time tradition in Swaziland and isn’t the first time this controversial issue is making it into the news.
It will be recalled that in 2012, Dailymail reported that topless virgins were paraded in front of the Swazi King, to celebrate chastity and unity.
As part of Swazi custom and norms, that time of the year has come, when the King chooses his bride and again, he has reportedly tested girls’ virginity before choosing a wife for himself.
The Reed Dance ceremony, known as Umhlanga reveals thousands of Swaziland’s ‘prettiest virgins’ dancing topless for King Mswati III, every August, hoping to be his next wife.

Buhari begins total probe of Jonathan’s govt

A total probe of the administration run by immediate past president, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is underway as the National Economic Council, NEC, Ad-hoc Committee on the Management of Excess Crude Account Proceeds and Accruals into the Federation Account, headed by the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, is to hire two international forensic audit firms to probe revenue that accrued into the Federation Account and how it was spent under former Dr Goodluck Jonathan as President.
Mr. Oshiomhole told journalists at the end of the first meeting of the committee in Abuja, yesterday that the auditors would cover the period January 1, 2010 to June 1, 2015.
It put paid to calls by the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, that Buhari should extend his probe to the administrations of Jonathan’s predecessors, Alh. Umaru Yar’ Adua.and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
Already, some revenue generating agencies have been invited to brief the committee which will take detailed briefings from all Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs of the Federal Government that deal directly with revenue.
The focus will be on the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, the Nigeria Customs Service, the Central bank of Nigeria, the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, NEITI, among others.
Other members of the committee included Gov. Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai of Kaduna State, Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe, and Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom.
He said that the committee did not want its actions to be bogged down by political interpretations and that the members were not professionals. Even if they were professionals, he said that their duties as governors would not allow them the time to do a thorough work.
His words, “We held our first primary session today here with some of the revenue generating agencies that are supposed to remit funds to the federation account.
We had a successful session with Customs, NPA, NEITI, SEC, FIRS, and quite a number of others and next week we will also hear from CBN, Ministry of Finance, Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.
For the remaining ones, we agree we are going to meet on Thursday next week, NNPC, NPDC, DPR, NIMASA and other remaining agencies.
We have started the work, with the idea to hear them out, what they have been doing, with particular emphasis on revenue accruing from these organizations and whether or not these have been remitted to the Federation Account for judicious distribution.
His words: “We realised that this is a task and given our mandate, even if we were professional accountants because we are sitting governors, we would not have the time to do a forensic audit which this assignment entails.
“Therefore, we have agreed in line with our mandate to appoint two reputable international audit firms to carry out a thorough forensic audit, not only of NNPC, which is more of excess crude, but other monies that accrued to the Federation Accounts. We have other revenues like bonuses, royalties, taxes, VAT that flow into the Federation Account.
“We are taking a holistic review of the entire process, looking at all the agencies that make contribution of funds to the federation account.
We are convinced that by appointing audit firms, we will allow professionals to carry out this exercise, so that it will be free of any political colouration and also we will ensure the outcome of the investigation will.
“We have learned, we have listened and asked questions. I think we all have a clear picture of what is happening in those organizations before now. Some have information to supply and we have drawn attention to those areas, they are willing to oblige.
We believe in the end, we will be able to not just establish what had happened over the period but much more important, going forward with the changes the President has promised the country.
“It is not going to be business as usual. He started on a clean slate and everybody knows the new rules of the game and in particular as the laws apply to the various institutions are implemented in full.
So I think we started very well. We are very confident that we are going to come out with something that is going to be of immense benefits to the Nigerian people”.
On the rationale for embarking on another audit report with regards to the alleged missing funds, he said “Some reports were produced by PWC but  in that report the PWC expressed their frustration and pointed to the fact that they were not able to access all the information they needed and that what they were able to produce was to the extent of information that was made available to them.”
He added: “Audit can only be credible as much as information that was made available to auditors. The good news now is that with President Buhari, all the books will be open, no agency has any protection.
Any agency that refuses to open the books then is ready to go on confrontation with the authority.
“The forensic audit will act on the whole truth and nothing but the truth so that all stakeholders will have basis to formulate good  policies and that Nigeria will never find itself in this circle where huge sums of money are allegedly diverted and  unaccounted for.
Audit has become a way of life for all public institutions.”
On the duration of the audit exercise, Oshiomhole explained that  the committee had looked at it professionally. “
We are focusing on a five year circle. What we have agreed is that we are going to carry out an audit for five years from 1st January 2010 to 30th June 2015.
“If the audit report reveals that we need to go backward, then we can do that. But for the first instance, this is the period that we consider good.
“We can’t impose a time frame on them but will engage them and by Thursday we will be able to make it public.
We need to listen to them and agreed with them on how much time will be okay for them.
We are all in a hurry to ensure that the right thing is done. The emphasis is not on time but doing thorough job.
“By next week we will meet with the big ones and we will then be able to tell you the audit firms that we have appointed. They are firms I am sure Nigerians will have confidence in.
“At the end of the audit we will hear them out and reconcile them with what the laws says and arrive at a position.
Given the volume of work  and complicated nature of issues, we agreed we need professionals to carry out the audit. It is only the professionals that can handle it. It is not good to compromise”.

Woman confesses to selling 19 kids to ritualists in Imo state

THE police at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Owerri, Imo State have arrested a woman, Chioma Anoruo, who has confessed to selling about 19 children to ritualists.
Mrs. Anoruo was arrested by the Orlu community local vigilance led by their chairman, Innocent Anokwute. She was subsequently handed over to the police.

During the raid, five children, including a new-born baby, already kidnapped for sale, were rescued from her house, while a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) belonging to her husband, Emeka, who is now on the run, was recovered along with an undisclosed large sum of money.
According to The Heat Nigeria, an online media, residents had complained of incessant disappearance of children in the area, which was of serious concern to the community leaders.
This year alone, the community has recorded a large number of missing children,” says a vigilance group member of the community who wanted his name off-print.
On March 30, Master Dominion Obasi, a pupil of Ezioha Community School, Okporo was kidnapped in the school premises and since then, has not been found.
While the community was searching for him, a son of a Deeper Life Church pastor was also kidnapped and is still missing.
However, two sons of the same parents, identified as Chukwuemeka and Chigozie, pupils of Holy Trinity Anglican School, Amazu in Okporo were abducted while returning home after their school had closed for the day.
As the abductors were trying to escape with them on their motorcycle, a palm wine tapper, who saw the two men while on top of a palm tree, raised the alarm, which attracted the attention of vigilance group members, who pursued them and apprehended one of the suspects identified as Ebuka.
The arrest of Anorue followed Ebuka’s confession that she and her husband were his sponsors, who buy each child from his gang for N100,000.
According to the vigilance group member, when Chioma’s husband, Emeka sighted them, he escaped through the back door while his wife was apprehended and forced to open their doors where the victims were found inside a room in captivity.
During her confession, she revealed that human merchandise had been their family business for years.
She confessed that her major work in the business was to keep the victims while her husband would contact buyers and sell them.
She also confessed that they had sold more than 19 children and the remaining five were waiting to be sold to their customers before her arrest.
Meanwhile, the vigilance group has transferred the suspect and the rescued victims to SCID Owerri under a department led by one Supol Obi for further investigation.

Groom sues his bride for damages one day after their wedding after seeing her without make-up for the first time and feeling 'cheated'

He may have agreed to take her for better and for worse, but for one Algerian groom, seeing his new wife without make-up was a step too far.

The husband was so shocked after seeing his bride's face the morning after their wedding that he failed to even recognise her.

He even accused her of being a thief that had broken into his house.
After realising it was in fact the woman he had married only yesterday, he decided to take her to court - accusing her inflicting 'psychological suffering' by 'cheating' him with her make-up.
The groom is now seeking $20,000 (£13,000) damages.

Newspapers in the North African Arab country said the groom swore in court that he even mistook his wife for a 'thief who came to steal his apartment',Emirates 24/7 reports.
'He said he was deceived by her as she used to fill up her face with make up before their marriage,' the papers said, quoting a court source.

'He said she looked very beautiful and attractive before marriage, but when he woke up in the morning and found that she had washed the make-up off her face, he was frightened as he thought she was a thief.

Brilliant moment husband surprises his wife by revealing that she's pregnant after doing a pregnancy test without her knowledge when she failed to flush the toilet

One happy husband had already experienced the excitement of learning his wife was pregnant the traditional way - straight from her mouth - twice. So when he thought they might be expecting a third child, he decided to turn the tables.

Sam Rader, 29, and his wife Nia, 26, were high school sweethearts from Wills Point, Texas, who are now raising two children and sharing their lives on their popular YouTube channel.

So when Sam decided to surprise his wife with news of her pregnancy - by surreptitiously doing a pregnancy test after she left the toilet unflushed - he didn't hesitate to share the moment with the internet.

I've got some big plans this morning,' Sam whispers to the camera at the beginning of the video, which has already earned over half a million views since it was posted on Wednesday.
He's standing in the couple's bathroom, carefully keeping his voice low so his wife won't  hear what he is doing.

'So I had this dream about announcing Nia's pregnancy to her,' he says. 'I wanted to find out before she does. And last night, at 1:30am while I was at work, she randomly texts me and says that she's two weeks late.

'All night long, Nia goes pee throughout the night. She has a bladder the size of a golf ball. And she doesn't flush the toilet at night because she's afraid she'll wake up the baby,' he explains.

Because Sam has just gotten off working a night shift, he's been able to get to the toilet before Nia is able to flush it that morning, telling the camera: 'So here I am, I'm so excited - I have a specimen. I knew it would be there.'

He then gestures to the toilet, which indeed has urine in it. Sam admits that he's not sure if any pregnancy hormones in the sample will register on the test because it's diluted by water, but he's brought one home and is ready to try it.

'This time around, I'm gonna be doing the announcement,' he says with clear excitement. 'I hope so bad she's pregnant.'

Sam takes out the test and drops a sample of urine from the bowl onto it. He watches as the indicator turns pink, quickly revealing that Nia is, in fact, going to have a baby.

Sam takes out the test and drops a sample of urine from the bowl onto it. He watches as the indicator turns pink, and shows two lines, quickly revealing that Nia is, in fact, going to have a baby.

After collecting his thoughts, Sam leaves the bathroom and walks down into the couple's colorful kitchen, where Nia is wearing a red polka-dot robe and serving breakfast to their two children, Symphony and Abram.

He procrastinates for a few seconds, seemingly giddy with excitement as he builds up to the moment. Nia asks him several times what he's doing as he walks around the kitchen filming her and their children.

Sam then starts to drop hints. Nia goes to the cabinet to get jelly, and Sam asks her if she's getting wine.

'Oh, that's right, you can't have wine,' he says, before telling her she could make a bologna sandwich. 'Oh, that's right, you can't have bologna.'

Nia seems increasingly confused and bewildered by her husband's behavior. She talks into the camera, addressing the couple's YouTube subscribers: 'He's full of bologna, you guys - he doesn't know what he's talking about.'

'Oh, I don't?' asks Sam, laughing. After Nia tells him that she hasn't even taken a test yet, so she can't be sure that they are expecting, Sam rushes out of the room to get the one that he just used. He hides it in his pocket and asks Nia to take it out.

You brought a positive one home? You're such a dork!' she says. 'You're hilarious... you're pregnant?'
One of their children, though, is having none of it, saying: 'You're pregnant, daddy? Daddy, only mommies get pregnant!'

Finally, after Sam insists that the test is real, Nia asks him if he got a dropper of pee out of the toilet. When he confirms that he did, she freaks out, excitedly asking him several times if he's serious.

'This isn't fair!' she says, adding that she had plans for how she was going to tell her husband when she learned that she was pregnant.
Nia says that she hasn't had any morning sickness yet - as the couple's daughter can be heard telling their son in the background that he is going to be a big brother.

'The baby will have eyes!' the little girl says. 'There's a baby in her tummy!'
'I was starting to get a little worried that we weren't going to have another one, because it's been a while since we haven't used protection,' Sam says.

'I just feel so incredibly blessed.'
The couple tells viewers to keep checking back for more videos with updates on the pregnancy's progress.
'This is gonna be awesome,' says Nia.

NAFDAC Uncovered A Factory Loaded with Expired Canned Food.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), on Thursday said it had uncovered an illegal factory within the Trade Fair Complex in Lagos loaded with various expired canned food.

The agency's Spokesman, Mr Anslem Okonkwor, said disclosed this in a statement that the discovery was sequel to a special raid and enforcement operation in some markets in the metropolis by officers of the Investigation and Enforcement Directorate of the agency.

It said that the expired canned food were worth millions of naira, adding that a 24-year-old man, Victor Okeke had been arrested in connection with the expired products.

"The factory, which was originally a one-room shop was used to stock, re-validate and distribute expired products, particularly, food condiments. Some of the expired products discovered in the unhygienic factory included expired Maggi sauce with manufacturing date of 15/08/2011 and expiry date of 15/08/2014.

Other products included Amoy Dark Soy Sauce, Costa Corned Beef and Exeter Corned Beef among others. For the Costa Corned Beef, whether expired or not, the 24-year -old suspect, changed their labels to Exeter Corned Beef,'' it said.

The statement also said that the suspect revealed that changing their labels was to attract patronage to the Costa corned beef because it was a faster moving brand than the name Costa in the market.

It said that Mr Shaba Mohammed, the leader of the NAFDAC team, who addressed journalists shortly after the exercise, revealed that the agency had been on the trail of the alleged owner of the factory following intelligence report on his activities in the market.

Mohammed, an Assistant Director, Enforcement Operations, had also revealed that the suspect, who also claimed to be the managing director of the factory, was caught re-validating the expiry dates of Maggi Arome sauce and Amoy Soy sauce.

"These products were smuggled into the country from Ghana and the expiry dates of 2014 shifted to August 2016,'' he said. According to him, the products expired since August 15, 2014. "We have arrested the suspect and also evacuated the remaining products in the illegal factory.

We are also charging him for counterfeiting. Some of the products were not registered by NAFDAC. "What we found on ground here cannot be consumed.

We saw two drums filled with ordinary water which he uses to immerse the products and the labels will remove without any traces and are replaced with re-validated labels,'' Mohammed was quoted as saying.

He lamented that most of the re-validated products had been pushed into the market for unsuspecting consumers to buy. "Consuming such products could lead to terminal diseases such as liver and kidney diseases which are currently on the rise in the country.

"The sauces are sodium-based products that could lead to hypertension if consumed,'' Mohammed was quoted as saying. He said that the suspect would be arraigned in court where the products evacuated would be used as exhibits against him. "Every single thing that is here is dangerous to human health," the statement claimed.

NAN recalls that the agency in its determination to ensure stringent punishment for counterfeiters is currently reviewing its laws with a view to making convicted counterfeiters of drug and food products spend the rest of their lives in jail.

The Director-General of NAFDAC, Dr Paul Orhii, had declared that the current law, which stipulated a fine of N500, 000 or 15-year jail term upon conviction, was inadequate. According to Orhii, the new law will also make counterfeiting a non bail-able offence, adding that a whistleblower clause was also included in the new proposal.
