If Igbos are butchered again, Nigeria will break; Fani- Kayode warns

FORMER Director of Publicity, Peoples Democratic Presidential Campaign Organisation, PDPPCO, Chief Femi Fani- Kayode Monday lampooned the Convener of the Coalition of Northern Politicians, Academics, Professionals and Businessmen, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, describing his comments that President Muhammadu Buhari owes Igbos nothing as most
most insensitive, cruel and Puerile.

Responding to comments credited to Junaid, Fani- Kayode in a message to Vanguard noted that his statements that If the igbo feel marginalised they should attempt to break away again, was most uncharitable and careless, warning that if there was any attempt to butcher the Ibos or a repeat of what happened in 1966, it would be resisted by not only the Ibos, but by all Nigerians, with attempt to secede, which according to him, would be successful.
According to him, the like of Junaid must learn from history, our mistakes, preach peace and peaceful coexistence, rather that boast and beat our chests for yet another round of war.
Fani- Kayode reacting to a statement titled, ” If the igbo feel marginalised they should attempt to break away again”- Dr. Junaid Mohammed, The Punch Newspaper, 17th August 2015, said, “Given the immense suffering that the igbo were subjected to both before, during and after the civil war this is one of most insensitive, cruel and puerile comments that I have heard in recent times.
“I daresay that if Junaid Mohammed’s Nigeria ever butchers over 100,000 innocent igbo civilians again, as they did in the north in 1966 just before the civil war, there will indeed be another attempt to secede, but this time it will not only be successful, but they will also take many others with them.
“Rather than boast and beat our chests, we must learn from our history and we must never repeat its mistakes.”
Dr. Junaid Mohammed, had in an interview in one of the national dailies( not Vanguard) , dismissed the sentiments shared by a former Governor of Anambra State that the Igbo have not been treated fairly in the governance of Nigeria.
Junaid who noted that people of the Igbo nation have enjoyed favourable treatment, said it was wrong to reward the Igbo simply on the basis of the Nigerian Civil War, which lasted between 1967 and 1970.
Mohammed had said, “If it is about Buhari making the appointments based on merit, I have no problems with it. I don’t believe Buhari or Nigeria owes any Igbo anything. I don’t care what Ezeife says; if they had seceded, there would have been no Nigeria today. As people who acted outside the interest of Nigeria as a country, to expect compensation is a very odd logic.
“If the Igbo don’t like it, they can attempt secession again. If they do, they must be prepared to live with the consequences. Nobody owes them anything and nobody is out to compensate them for anything.”

Rapper boyfriend of Morgan Freeman's granddaughter is charged with second-degree murder after she is stabbed her to death on New York street in 'cocaine-fueled exorcism'

The rapper boyfriend of Morgan Freeman's step-granddaughter has been charged with second-degree murder after she was fatally stabbed on a Manhattan sidewalk in an apparent cocaine-fueled exorcism.

Police said on Monday that Lamar Davenport, 30, is accused of killing E'Dena Hines, 33, who was found with multiple stab wounds to the chest near her New York home in Washington Heights early on Sunday morning.
Davenport was in a relationship with Miss Hines, who was found in front of her apartment building on West 162nd Street and pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital, officers added.

George Hudacko, 65, who saw the 3am attack from his window and called 911, said Davenport was stabbing Hines and screaming: 'Get out, devils. In the name of Jesus Christ, I cast you out.’

Davenport, an aspiring actor with a criminal record and a history of drug abuse, was said to be reciting Bible verses before being dragged from his girlfriend's body - which had 16 stab wounds.
He was taken to the New York's Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center to undergo psychological testing before he was questioned by police.
Miss Hines was the granddaughter of Morgan Freeman's first wife Jeanette Adair Bradshaw and a regular on the red carpet with the Academy Award-winning actor. She also appeared in a number of movies herself.

Morgan, 78, who was once forced to deny a romantic relationship with Hines, said on Sunday night: 'The world will never know her artistry in talent. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.'
He added: 'I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter E'Dena Hines. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.'
Nicole Alexander, a childhood friend of Miss Hines who attended French Camp Academy in Mississippi with her, paid tribute to her today.

She told DailyMail.com: 'I knew here in junior high and we went to high school at French Camp Academy. She was such a happy, funny, sweet girl.'
Hines played the part of a receptionist in the movie 5 Flights Up, which was released in May and starred Freeman and Diane Keaton.
Witness Brydon Tarafa, 28, told Dailymail.com that he was in his apartment when he heard a woman scream and then a man maniacally shouting 'Jesus Christ is born'.
According to Davenport's Facebook, he used to work for an auto parts shop and studied English Literature at New York University. Police said he has two young children.
He was trying to become a rapper - performing under the nickname Lyric.
One witness to the murder, George Hudacko, described the demented scene that unfolded around 3am.
'"Get out, devils! I cast you out, devils! In the name of Jesus Christ, I cast you out!," the boyfriend screamed,' said Hudacko, who saw the attack from his window in Washington Heights and called 911.
Witnesses told The New York Post that Davenport continued to stab at Hines' lifeless body until he was arrested.
When officers arrived, he was reportedly still making the stabbing motion while the knife was stuck in her chest - and he didn't have anything in his fist.
A law enforcement source also told the newspaper Davenport may have been high on cocaine at the time.
They added that he had six past arrests for crimes, including marijuana possession and petit larceny.
In the past Morgan Freeman has called for marijuana to be decriminilized - and declared in a recent interview that he has been using the drug on a regular basis for five decades.
Ray Rosario, who claims to be Davenport's best friend, said he went out for dinner with Davenport, Hines and other friends late on Saturday night - and it was the happiest he had seen Hines for a long time.
He told The Daily Beast: 'I’m still trying to come to grips with what happened. I’m caught between the hate I have for him, my love for him being my brother, and my heart breaking for her.'
Rosario added the pair seemed to be 'ecstatic' just hours before the murder.

Graphic photos of the migrants' bodies washed up on beach in Libya

The dead bodies of desperate migrants who were bundled onto overcrowded boats destined for Europe, but capsize killing those on board, are washing up on Libya's beaches.
Their bones, half submerged in the sand, will be buried in unmarked graves, their relatives unaware their loved ones have perished.

Volunteers from Libyan Red Crescent Society collect the bodies which were swallowed and spat out by the Mediterranean Sea as they risked their lives on the perilous journey from Libya bound for the island of Lampedusa off the Italian coast.

Meanwhile, more than 1,000 men, women and children who were able to survive treacherous journeys to Europe continued to be rescued off the coasts of Italy and Greece each day.

Shocking new photographs taken in Zuwara, on the west coast of Libya close to the Tunisian border, show the true extent of the migrant crisis.
Bodies, some of which are barely more than a pile of bones, are being picked up on a 100-mile stretch of the war-torn country from Garaboli to Zuwara.
One heartbreaking picture is of a skeleton, which has been washed up on the beach with the still wearing the pair of yellow trousers and black leather belt they set off in.

Taha Sultan, head of health at Libyan Red Crescent Society, an organisation working on the ground to help the country's vulnerable population, said hundreds of bodies had been washing up over the past year.

Speaking to MailOnline from Benghazi in the east of the country, he said: 'We have been dealing with this for more than a year along the west coast.
'It happens every day. These kind of things happen all the time in Libya.'

65-year-old who became the world's oldest mother of quads finally takes her babies home

They are the babies that propelled their mother into the history books and earned her the scorn of millions.
But three months on since 65-year-old Annegret Raunigk gave birth to quadruplets, mother and babies have been given the green light to leave hospital by the end of the month.

According to the head of the Neonatology Department at Berlin’s Charite Hospital, Annegret and her four babies are now strong enough to face the outside world.
Doctors were extremely concerned at the time that the very premature babies would not survive, with tiny baby girl Neeta weighing just 1lb 7oz when she was born.

Neeta’s three brothers were almost as small – with Bence weighing 1lb 8oz, Fjonn 1lb 10oz and Dries 2lb 2oz – and the severely underweight babies had to be kept in incubators for the first week of their lives.
Experts warned that, even if they did pull through, they could suffer lifelong health problems including lung, intestinal, eye and brain complaints.

But Professor Christoph Buhrer has confirmed: ‘All have developed well, they have grown wonderfully in a short time.
‘The children were born through Caesarian section but all four are now as strong and as heavy as it they had been born naturally.’
A few days ago, Neeta, Bence, Fjonn and Dries – now weighing 5lb 11oz, 5lb 12oz, 5lb 13oz and 6lb 3oz respectively – were examined and deemed fit enough to leave the hospital soon.

Professor Buhrer added: ‘Now they are ordinary children who want to go home to be looked after by their mother.’
The children spent months in delicate health, connected to breathing tubes in incubators.
Dries needed surgery four weeks ago after developing fluid on his brain but he has recovered through a procedure which diverts excess cerebral fluid to his abdomen.
Neeta, his sister, also underwent an operation shortly after birth to repair a hole in her bowel.
‘Dries has recovered well but he is going to need physiotherapy as a result of the intervention," said the professor. ‘Ms Raunigk needs now, above all, practical help.’

Waiting to greet the retired English and Russian teacher is her daughter Leila, aged 10, who persuaded her to seek fertility treatment in Ukraine because she wanted a sibling to play with.
Annegret was forced to travel to Kiev as doctors in Germany refused to give her IVF treatment, because they were concerned that her body wouldn’t be strong enough to survive the stress of pregnancy and giving birth.
