Student Cuts Teacher With Machete For Punishing His Girlfriend In Enugu.

On Tragedy struck in Alor Uno community of Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State when a student of Community Secondary School, in the area identified as Ebuka attacked a classroom teacher with a machete leaving him with deep cut on his head for punishing his girlfriend.

DAILY POST gathered that the boy identified as Ebuka, intended to kill the male teacher but ended up giving him a serious machete cut on the head.

Ebuka was said to have sworn to deal with the teacher identified as Ike who punished his girlfriend for misbehaving in class.


Ebuka who was acting under the influence of alcohol and hard drug was said to have armed himself with a machete hidden under his cloth, beckoned on the teacher to come closer.

Ike sensing trouble attempted to flee for safety but was given a hot pursuit by Ebuka, who caught up with him in a classroom and dealt a serious machete cut on his head.

It was further learnt that Ebuka intended to kill the teacher but was however overpowered by students and teachers who disarmed him and later handed him over to the police.


While lamenting his action, Ebuka said he was not himself and could not describe what came over him.

He however denied the claim that he wanted to kill the teacher, stressing that when his girlfriend informed him of been punished by a teacher in the school, he decided to avenge her cause, adding that he did not intend to attack Ike with the machete.


Ike was said to have been rushed to a private hospital where he is receiving medical attention.

Jeanette Toczko, 96, and her 95-year-old husband, Alexander Toczko, from San Diego, California, died just hours apart as they held hands in bed.

The pair spent their lives in love after becoming boyfriend and girlfriend when they were only eight years old.


But several weeks ago, Mr Toczko suffered a broken hip in a fall and was left bed-bound. A local hospice delivered a special bed to his home, which staff pushed up next to his beloved wife's bed.
As Mr Toczko's condition quickly declined, Mrs Toczko's own health took a turn for the worse. The couple had always said they wished to die 'in their own bed, holding hands, in each other's arms'.

"She kept asking us, 'What is today, what is today?' We said it was June. She said it's June 29th, and June 29th is their 75th wedding anniversary," said Toczko-Cushman.


The family went along with it, buying balloons and flowers to celebrate, in bed.

"And we said happy anniversary, and my mother was thrilled to death because it was their anniversary and she knew that he was going and that they had made it to 75 years," said Toczko-Cushman.

The couple's daughter, Aimee Toczko-Cushman, described the moment she told her mother she had lost her husband, who kept a photo of Mrs Toczko at her Holy Communion in his wallet.

'I told my mother he was gone,'. 'She hugged him and she said, "See this is what you wanted. You died in my arms and I love you. I love you, wait for me, I'll be there soon".

The family left, leaving the couple to share their final moments together.
"Even the hospice nurse said it was the most incredible thing to see the two of them taking those last breaths together," Toczko-Cushman said.

"I knew she wasn't go to last too much longer," Toczko said
"And he died in her arms, which is exactly what he wanted. I went in there and told my mother he was gone; she hugged him and she said, 'See this is what you wanted. You died in my arms and I love you. I love you, wait for me, I'll be there soon,'" said Toczko-Cushman. "It was tough," said Toczko.




The couple who were married for 75 years have fulfilled their final wish to die in each other's arms after they passed away clutching hands, within hours of each other, in their bed.

About 24 hours later, it became time for Jeanette to join her husband.

"They both entered the pearly gates holding hands," said Toczko.

The Toczkos have since been buried.

Alexander Toczko was a World War II veteran.

A former Iowa State University scientist who altered blood samples to make it appear he had achieved a breakthrough toward a potential vaccine against HIV was sentenced on Wednesday to more than 4 ½ years in prison for making false statements in research reports.

Dong-Pyou Han, 58, also must pay $7.2 million to a federal government agency that funded the research. He entered a plea agreement in February admitting guilt to two counts of making false statements.

Government prosecutors said Han's misconduct dates to 2008 when he worked at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland under professor Michael Cho, who was leading a team testing an experimental HIV vaccine on rabbits.

Cho's team began receiving NIH funding, and he soon reported the vaccine was causing rabbits to develop antibodies to HIV, which was considered a major breakthrough.

Han said he initially accidentally mixed human blood with rabbit blood making the potential vaccine appear to increase an immune defense against HIV, the virus that can cause AIDS.

Han continued to spike the results to avoid disappointing Cho, his mentor, after the scientific community became excited that the team could be on the verge of a vaccine.

Iowa State recruited Cho in 2009, and his team — including Han — continue the research with NIH funding.

A group of researchers at Harvard University found in January 2013 the promising results had been achieved with rabbit blood spiked with human antibodies.

 Han's attorney Joseph Herrold, a federal public defender, asked for probation instead of prison.

'Here, there is little reason to believe that Dr. Han has not already been deterred from any future criminal conduct.

 His conduct is aberrational in an otherwise admirable life,' He regrets the hurt he has caused to his friends and colleagues, the damage he has caused to government funded scientific research, and the pain he has caused any members of the public who had high hopes based on his falsehood.'

Herrold said Han has lost the ability to work in his field of choice and is likely to be deported by immigration officials 'and possibly never permitted to return,' separating him from his wife and two adult children who are U.S. citizens.

 Han, who was born in Seoul, South Korea, is a lawful permanent U.S. resident.
Judge James Gritzner sentenced Han to 57 months in prison and three years of supervision upon release. Han must repay the National Institutes.

If you've been seeing long queues at the filling station, it is because the fuel scarcity just may be coming back sooner than we think.

Reports from various sources are now saying that marketers are being owed outstanding subsidy debt of about N150bn while another source has revealed that subsidy debts under President Muhammudu Buhari has risen by almost N59bn.

Marketers are not willing to import petroleum products with their own money anymore because of concern that the government might not pay the debts beyond the outstanding one left by our ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. For the last two months, marketers have stopped importing petroleum products.

Now, sources are revealing that petroleum products should be exhausted by this weekend.

A source who spoke to the Daily Trust said: "The product imported by some independent marketers few weeks ago would be exhausted by this weekend. This would no doubt throw the whole nation into another round of fuel scarcity.”

Femi Adewole, the Executive-Secretary of Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association (DAPPMA),  has that said marketers have been constrained by the unpaid subsidies adding that the the current foreign exchange crisis and failure of banks to give loans to his members makes it almost impossible  to  fuel.

Despite all of the reports, marketers claim that the reason the lines are so long is because of slow loading of the fuel at depots. Vice president of Independent Petrol Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) Abubakar Maigandi who spoke with Daily Trust said: “It was not true that we caused the scarcity; it is due to slow loading of fuel at both the private and NNPC depots.”

an Igbo business man, Chijoke Ngwu Ogbodo, a native of Nkanu LGA, Enugu State was gruesomely murdered along with his wife in Katsina by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herds men.

The couple were killed in the presence of their children.

Sources report that the assassins clubbed the couple and butchered them with a machete before shooting them at point blank.

The nephew of the late King Abdullah, Saudi Arabian Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, has been so successful in business that he is sometimes referred to as the Arabian Warren Buffett, after the US billionaire.

Alwaleed who made billions investing in American, European and Middle Eastern companies is donating his $32 billion fortune to philanthropy, according to a statement released Wednesday.

Alwaleed said he wants his money to go to humanitarian causes after his death. The release did not identify specific efforts, but said the board of trustees at Alaweed Philanthropies, which he currently heads, will craft a plan to spend the money on initiatives related to healthcare, education and poverty.
"Philanthropy is an intrinsic part of my Islamic faith," Alwaleed said in the press release. "With this pledge, I am honoring my life-long commitment to what matters most, helping to build a more peaceful, equitable and sustainable world for generations to come."
Forbes ranks Alwaleed at the 34th richest person in the world. His major investments have included Twitter and Citigroup, as well as media companies like Time Warner (CNN's parent company) and Disney.

The business magnate said he has already funneled $3.5 billion to his charity for initiatives such as housing, gender equality and disaster relief. Alwaleed Philanthropies has also established centers and programs at several prestigious universities, including Harvard and Cambridge and partnered with charities like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Alwaleed's press release from Wednesday quotes Gates saying,
"Prince Alwaleed's generous commitment promises to significantly extend the great work that his foundation is already doing."
For those worried how he will manage if he gives away all his money, the prince will be holding on to his publicly-listed investment business.

"This is very much separate from my ownership in Kingdom Holding," the prince said at the announcement.

Kingdom Holding, of which the prince is the majority shareholder, has holdings in a number of businesses, including banking and financial services, property businesses, media companies and internet and technology firms.

The prince has been married four times and has children.
