J Cole calls off his wedding to long time girlfriend, Melissa, you can't believe the reason he gave, check it out.

According to MTO: J Cole and his longtime GF Melissa were getting married. Well now . . . we're hearing that their wedding is OFF . . . or at least POSTPONED INDEFINITELY.
What happened? Well it looks like J Cole is either getting COLD FEET. Or he's adopted some new AFROCENTRIC views, that are incompatible with marriage.
One of Melissa's friends told MediaTakeOut.com, "[J Cole] said that he doesn't believe in the Western institution of marriage. What kind of f*ck sh*t is that? I couldn't understand the nonsense."

Well, it's better to WAIT UNTIL YOUR READY for marriage . . . than to get married TOO EARLY we guess. Besides . . . now that Melissa's OUT OF THE PICTURE . . . maybe J Cole will MARRY ONE OF US!!!

US sending arms to Nigeria – Report

THERE are indications that the United States government is sending arms to the Nigerian military in its efforts to crush Boko Haram.
Facts that the US might start sending arms to Nigeria came on the heels of the US Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle’s revelation in an interview with one of our correspondents that the US government never placed arms embargo on Nigeria.

“There’s been a lot of misunderstanding on this issue before, during and after President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Washington. Let me be clear about a couple of things. One, we had worked very closely with Nigeria on the Leahy Amendment….The second piece of misinformation, which has been bandied about in (newspapers’) headlines, is that the US has lifted its arms embargo on Nigeria. There was never an arms embargo,” Entwistle said.

According to Radio France Internationale, the US Defence Security Cooperation Agency records show that the country’s Department of Defence is set to transfer military material to Nigeria.
The RFI noted that a DSCA list of “so-called Excess Defence Articles” slated for Nigeria indicated that the US Army was about to transfer Caiman trucks, armoured vehicles designed “to defeat current and emerging threats,” according to their manufacturer, British-based BAE Systems.

The RFI added that the US government was also sending armoured vehicles known as MaxxPro MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected), made by Navistar Defence, an Illinois company, and Israeli-based Plasan Sasa.
It is unclear which Nigerian military units will receive the equipment, but the report said that the US government had confirmed that deliveries were pending.
When The PUNCH contacted the Department of State to confirm the types of military hardware the US would be sending and when deliveries of the weapons would be made, the newspaper was directed to contact Nigeria’s Ministry of Defence.

The spokesperson for the US State Department, Noel Clay,   via an email to The PUNCH, said, “The United States is set to expand its efforts to provide bilateral security assistance to Nigeria to counter Boko Haram. We will refer you to the Nigerian MoD to confirm the arrival of any US-origin material, but we can say that a key component of our security assistance to Nigeria in recent years has been training on the importance of respect for human rights and professional military conduct.

“Impunity for human rights violations by security forces not only tarnishes Nigeria’s reputation, but cannot prohibit us from engaging with involved units. We will continue to work with the Nigerian military to ensure they conduct disciplined military operations in accordance with clear rules of engagement and international law; treat all detainees humanely; allow access to independent monitors to all detention facilities; and hold accountable the perpetrators of unlawful violence.”

Meanwhile, a former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, has said prayer is the best weapon against terrorism.
Gowon, who is also the founder of Nigeria Prays, a non-profit organisation, said this on Sunday at the National Prayer Rally, which held at the Olive Tree Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Ikoyi, Lagos.

He observed that Boko Haram insurgency had been the most disturbing of all the problems of Nigeria.
“There is need for Nigerians to begin to change their orientation and begin to pray according to the will and purpose of God. The only way prayer can be of benefit to all is for us to ask that God’s will be done. We should pray that God will answer our prayers in way that it will be a blessing to all,” he said,
Gowon, as Nigeria’s ruler between 1966 and 1975, prosecuted the Nigeria-Biafra civil war.

He said the incessant suicide bombings in the country were enough cause for worry.
He said, “It is sad that some people wilfully take their lives and the lives of others. This is a great concern. There is no longer respect for lives. There is no regard for human dignity. This is worrisome. That is why I really want to appeal to Nigerians to raise an altar of prayer for Nigeria.
We should consistently pray and constantly ask that God will cause his mercy to flow in our nation. The bloodletting is embarrassing and ungodly. It is time for us to raise our voices and cry to God for His mercy on our land.
“If God could save the Biblical Saul who later became Paul, I am confident that God can touch the lives of these people called Boko Haram. We know they are faceless and nobody knows their agenda. That is why I believe that it is only God who can really intervene in their lives and bring a change.”

Shocking News :A 23-year-old admission seeker commits suicide in Lagos

There was confusion in the FESTAC area of Lagos on Sunday after a 23-year-old, identified only as Ugochukwu, was found hanging in his apartment.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Ugochukwu, who lived on 311 Road, FESTAC Town, had sought admission into a university in Lagos State, and had written the 2015 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
It was gathered that Ugochukwu, however, had yet to secure the admission.
Our correspondent gathered that on Sunday at about 12pm, Ugochukwu’s mother, identified only as Ngozi, and his two siblings came back from church to find him hanging in the sitting room.
The family reportedly stayed in a rented room and parlour in the area.
The family members were said to have raised the alarm which brought neighbours to the scene, as everyone was taken aback at the sight of Ugochukwu’s dangling body.
The 23-year-old reportedly used a rope to hang himself from a ceiling fan. He was found dead.
The matter was said to have been reported at the FESTAC Police Division, and the officers reportedly came to remove the corpse.
A police source told our correspondent that Ugochukwu’s relations said the deceased did not give any clue as to why he committed suicide.
He said, “Nobody can say why he committed suicide. But two Sundays ago, they caught him mixing cement to drink. The family members had actually gone to church, and he had stayed behind. It was a nieghbour who caught him and alerted the family members.
“But all efforts made to find out from him, what went wrong reportedly proved abortive, as he refused to tell anyone anything, including his mother.
“This morning, the family members went to church again, and Ugochukwu decided to stay back. Nobody suspected anything. It was when the family members came back that they found his corpse.”
Another resident in the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the corpse had been taken to the mortuary by the police.
She said, “Ugochukwu’s father’s whereabouts are unknown, but the boy has a younger brother and an elder sister.
“The corpse has been taken to the mortuary. Since he finished secondary school, he had not been able to secure admission. He took the UTME again this year.
“Everyone knows him as someone who did not talk too much. But no one knew exactly why he committed suicide. He was not working. He was usually at home. They were staying in a room and parlour. They are an average family.”
One of Ugochukwu’s neighbours, identified only as Oluja, said he returned from church to learn that the young man had committed suicide. He added that the last moment he had with the deceased showed that Ugochukwu was desperate about his university admission and financial problem.
He said, “I am shocked that Ugochukwu has passed on. I just returned from my church, only to learn that Ugochukwu was found hanging in his apartment.
“It was the policemen from FESTAC that took his body away. Everyone in the area is still in shock.
“I know that he had been worried about his admission to the university.
“He had tried several schools, but never made it. Also, he was having a financial problem. Maybe, it is the sum of these worries that made him commit suicide. He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Patricia Amadin, promised to get back to our correspondent on the incident.
She, however, had yet to get back as of press time.

I still miss Abiola, says IBB @ 74

TWENTY-TWO years after annulling the June 12, 1993 presidential elections, former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd), yesterday, said he still misses the winner of the historic polls, late Chief Moshood Abiola, who died in government detention in 1998.
To show how he sorely miss his erstwhile friend, Babangida, who turned 74 today, said last week he searched for one of the letters Abiola wrote him and re-read it.
Babangida spoke at an interactive session with journalists in Minna, Niger State ahead of his 74th birthday anniversary.
Asked if he was missing his friend, MKO Abiola, Babangida said: “Let me see, last week, I dug out one of the letters he wrote to me and I read it. So, that shows that I still miss him.”
In the engaging interview, the former military ruler also opened up on his response to the coup plot led by Major Gideon Orkar in April 1990, the Dimka coup plot in 1976, his assessment of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration and comments that he is from  Oyo State instead of Niger State.
General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd),
Babangida, who commended the Federal Government on its renewed offensive against the Boko Haram insurgency, also gave the government high marks in terms of performance.
He said: “So far, I am confident that they are doing well. They have identified the problems and they look resolute in confronting these problems head-on and there are a lot of people in the society who are offering a lot of sound advice on what to do.”
On PDP
Asked how he felt as a leader of a former ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that is now in the opposition and whether the PDP could return in 2019, he said: “I think one of the good things we are experiencing in this country is that for 16 years there has been democracy and democratic practices in the country.
“A lot of things must have gone wrong somewhere and the right judges are the people and the people have spoken. I think it is natural they needed a change after 16 years and they did what is right. They did not go wild, they did not fight anybody; they used their ballot papers to change the government. I think this is the beauty of what happened.
“I look forward to such practices in the next 50 years of democratic practice in this country. I hope they learn from their mistakes, what they did wrong, what they did right and what they can do now to re-launch their party.”
On his reaction to President Buhari’s vow to recover stolen funds from the nation’s treasury, Babangida said: “During the tenure of my boss, President Obasanjo, he had a similar strategy and to be fair to him, he made a lot of recoveries.
So, we should support this present Federal Government, which is trying to do the same to achieve the same objective. If that objective is pursued reverently, I believe it will achieve some degree of stolen funds.
“You talk about oil theft, I am sure President Buhari is resolute to stamp out all those and to bring to book all those who have tampered in stealing our oil.”
How I escaped  Orkar coup
On how he escaped death during the Gideon Orkar coup, he recollected: “I can remember very well that I had some loyal officers, who were supposed to be my protectors and my bodyguards. Initially, they told me to leave but I told them no, I am not leaving anywhere but they remained steadfast and later I took my family outside Dodan Barracks and joined my guards.
“So, we went out of Dodan Barracks and we went to a safe house where we got in contact with loyal troops. May God bless Sani Abacha. Sani Abacha was the Chief of Army Staff. He got in touch with me, I got in touch with him and we sat down and talked on what we were going to do. Abacha and I rallied the loyal troops and then I left my safe house and joined Abacha in his house. That was how I escaped.”

Man seeks dissolution of 19-yr marriage over wife’s laziness

An Igando Customary Court in Lagos will today continue further hearing on a petition filed by a 57-year-old man, Joe Ubigho, seeking dissolution of his marriage of 19 years over alleged laziness of his wife, Rita, aged 45.

The petitioner told the court that his wife was too lazy and had left everything in the house to maids to do.
He said: “It was owing to such laziness that I was forced to take our children to a boarding school for proper care.”
The petitioner begged the court to dissolve the union, saying he was tired of the marriage and was no more in love with his wife.
Reacting to the allegation, Rita, a mother of three, said it was her husband who chased her out of the house, threatening to pour acid on her if she refused to leave.
She promised to take good care of her husband and children and urged the court not to dissolve the marriage, saying she was still in love.

News News :Catholic priest assassinated in Imo

Rampaging hoodlums in Imo State, weekend, murdered a Claretian priest of the Catholic Church in Owerri.
The priest, whose full identity could not be ascertained at press time, was an academic staff of Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming the incident yesterday in a telephone interview, Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the priest was murdered by assassins on a bush path.
Enwerem said: “The police are suspecting that it was a clear case of assassination. The priest was gruesomely murdered along a very lonely bush path that would have led him into Port Harcourt Road.”
While noting that whatever happened to the priest might be connected with the bickering and happenings in Imo Polytechnic, Enwerem, however, wondered why the Catholic priest chose to use such a lonely bush path.
He said: “The police are suspecting that whatever happened to the priest cannot be far from the ceaseless bickering emanating from the polytechnic.
“Again, I wonder why the priest chose to use the lonely bush path on his Toyota SUV.”
He confirmed that although the police have recovered the vehicle, no arrests had been made in connection with the crime.
The PPRO said that police patrol teams were despatched to the area as soon as the information was passed on to them.
He said: “The youths of the community joined the police in combing the surrounding bushes. The hoodlums simply perfected and carried out their damnable act before vanishing into the thin air.”
Enwerem confirmed that the command had not only expanded its dragnet to all corners of the state, but were following all available leads.
Enwerem said: “There is the likelihood that the assassins carefully monitored the priest’s movement and laid ambush for him on his track. Honestly, it was a gruesome murder

I first saw my wife having extra marital affairs in my dreams, man tells court

A 43-year-old fashion designer, Mr Musiliu Bolaji, had approached an Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos State to seek dissolution of his 13-year-old marriage to his wife, Memunat, over an alleged act of infidelity.

The petitioner was alleged to have accused his wife of an adulterous act, bad manners and trouble-making.

“I dreamt, on several occasions, that my wife was having extra marital affairs, I confronted her but she denied it. I have also caught her red handed with her ex-boyfriend.

“She had once confessed of her infidelity act, but later denied it, though she didn’t know that I recorded her confession.
“More so, she is very rude and troublesome, I warned her to desist from her adulterous manner but she wouldn’t listen.
“I reported to my mother-in-law but she refused to call her daughter to order while my wife did not desist from her adulterous act,’’ he said.

“I am no more interested in the marriage,” Bolaji, a resident of Omobolaji Avenue, in Ikorodu, said.
The 33-year-old Memunat, however, denied all the claims by her husband whom she accused of having another wife.

The trader and mother of three children said, “My husband has another wife which he didn’t tell me about ; but the lady in question, confronted me herself and told me she is my junior wife.
“We have been living in peace until recently when he changed his attitude toward me.

I do not want to leave my husband, I pray the court to help us settle our disputes,” Memunat said.
President of the court, Mr Olu Adebiyi, ordered the couple to bring their family members to court at the next sitting for possible reconciliation.
Adebiyi, however, adjourned the case till September 7, for further hearing.

Stephanie Linus left me teary-eyed - Charly Boy writes

Article written by Charly Boy. Read below...(meanwhile, I saw some part of Dry at the screening in Paris, and I, who is not a big fan of Nollywood movies, thought it was amazing. Go check it out)

"I was invited to a movie premiere a few days ago and reluctantly I went, not knowing what to really expect. I'm not really a fan of the Big Screen, because in the comfort of my room I can watch whatever till the normal happens -I fall asleep! The movie Dry is to go down in my books as the first Naija movie premiere I have ever attended. From the moment I was ushered into the cinema hall, my attention was captivated. The movie was about the challenges faced by child brides who are struggling with VVF (Vesico vaginal fistula).
The damage of the fistulous tract extending between the bladder and the vagina that allows the continuous involuntary discharge of urine by a female into the vaginal vault, caused by early child birth.
I enjoyed the movie production, the acts and their characters we simply of international standards. The movie was so emotionally laden that it left  me TEARY eyed. The whole cast were very good in their delivery of their roles and my sister Stephanie Okereke Linus wasoutstanding.
Who would have thought she had it in her to whip up such emotions in my person. However, the movie left me with more questions than answers.
What can a full grown man see as a sexual attraction to a 12yr old girl young enough to be one's granddaughter?
What joy do men drive from very violent sex? Why are some men worse than dogs?
Why are some people still giving away their little girls to very old men who should be put to pasture for marriage? Questions and more questions!
Did I hear you say culture?
Is it not about time we get rid of certain parts of our culture especially, those
that paint the women as subservient, house fixtures, things to be used for selfish pleasure while conveniently forgetting the fundamental rights of the female gender?
Is it not high time we look around and see that the world has since moved on from these barbaric acts?
All these silly old ignorant randy men should please allow children to enjoy their childhood rather than damaging them physically and emotionally.
There is a lot the Federal Ministry of Health can do, oh! sorry we have no ministers, I forget we are on our own.
Well, for my sister Stephanie, kudos to a job well done. You have made us proud. I hear you loud and clear, just know that you have a believer in this message you are trying to pass across and remember, I am only a phone call away in joining you in this sensitization campaign. I pledge my support to help stamp out VVF especially in Naija.
Well done.
