How Calabar pastor’s family lived with python for 10 years

Rev Tony Amba

Senior Pastor of the MegaFaith Ministries, Calabar in Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State, Rev Tony is said to have seen numerous miracles in his life and undeniably, the Almighty God has used him to do the extraordinary even for others.
All the same, the messenger of the Most High did not plan for the unusual that he witnessed, last weekend, at his 10 Ekpiken Close domicile.
Amba’s words, “Everything that happened that day was nothing less than a miracle. What if this beast had injured anyone, they would have said a lot of things about me and the ministry, I cannot thank God enough for what he did for my family and me because I have been living in that house for about a decade. Only God knows how long the snake came into that place.’’Unknown to the oracle of God, a 19 –year-old python, measuring 20-metre, supposedly feeding on dogs, fowls, rats and lizards for ages, had been a co-dweller with him and his children in the same apartment for about a decade. The moment he stepped out on the revelation day, the ravenous python from its hideaway in the roof, decided it was time to materialize and use one of the children for its next meal.
Angelic visit
Rev Amba told Niger Delta Voice, “Two of my children were home alone when they saw that a something like a machete was piercing through the ceiling so they ran out of the house. Fortunately, one of our members was coming to the house at that time, and he is the one, who inquired from them what the matter was and they told him what they noticed in the ceiling.”
Shocking discovery
“In trying to find out if there was someone with a machete in the ceiling because the opening made was quite obvious, they set up a form of ladder to climb and look into the place, but saw something that looked like a tyre, but they discovered it was shining. They decided to use a bigger torch light, what they saw was a python and they were shocked,” he said.
His words, “I just came back from a journey where I went to see my father in the lord in Abuja and also attended a conference there. My coming into Calabar was to prepare for our yearly programme, ‘September to Remember,’ but before coming back, I already knew that a battle had been won because God is always in control.”
September to remember
“The occurrence did not come as a surprise but it was not natural, because what could the snake be possibly eating for those years it has spent in that place, it is indeed a September to remember for me ,my family and the MegaFaith Ministries,” he added.
Amba further said, “When I was alerted, I decided to call the police so that they can kill it because I am not the kind of person, who reads meaning to every little thing. But they refused, arguing that they could kill it and it transforms into a human being based on the incident that led to its discovery, so they left without doing anything.”
Snake charmers

The clergyman said neighbours referred him to some Hausa snake charmers from Bogobiri. He complied and invited them. According to him, ”When they came (the Mallams), they first went into the ceiling to ascertain the size of the snake and came down to tell me that they will collect N60,000, but we bargained till they came down to N20,000, which we paid. I left them to continue the work of my Father because I had communion to administer that evening.”
He disclosed that by the time he returned, they had killed the snake but area boys did not allow the snake charmers to take it away, as they turned it into a delicacy.
Attack: An eyewitness, who preferred anonymity, told Niger Delta Voice that the snake almost disappeared after they (Mallams) led by Danzaria Rabiu climbed the ceiling the second time to kill it.
“When one of the ‘aboki’ climbed the ceiling, they could not find the snake anymore, so they started breaking the ceiling all over and the creature fell down in fury, started attacking them, but the four of them over powered the about 20 meters long creature” he stated.
The eyewitness added, “The incident was really strange although there is a little bush behind us, but it still does not explain how the snake entered and have been living for years, how did it survive for that long in that place, what was it feeding on? He asked.
Not an ordinary snake
Mallam Rabiu, who spoke in Pidgin English, said: “The snake don live there for a very long time don live there for up to 10 years and when we kill am. I discover from the counting say the snake don live up to 19 years. There is a way we dey take count the mark wey dey the belle to know how long the snake don live.”

“The snake enter there when e still dey small , na for there wey the snake stay grow because we see different kind of fowl , rat ,lizard and dog bones, that na wetin we see for inside that ceiling be that.”
He, however, said that the snake did not look ordinary because it almost disappeared while they were trying to kill it after they had finished negotiating with the pastor, who called them to come and kill it.

He said: “When we come inside the ceiling the second timer, we did not see the snake again. We come begin break the ceiling before the thing come fall down.
“With the kind things wey dey our body, the snake no suppose attack us. I surprise when e begin open mouth to bite us.”

How mysterious snake forced Ogun judge to release detained journalists

An Ogun State High Court Judge, N.I Agbelu, on Tuesday ordered the arrest of seven journalists, claiming the court was not a public place for them to videotape.
The judge ordered the arrest of Daud Olatunji(Vanguard), Samuel Awoyinfa(The Punch), Ernest Nwokolo(The Nation), Abiodun Taiwo(Daily Times) , Sulaiman Fasasi(Nigerian Pilot), Wale Adelaja(TVC) and Johnson Akinpelu(Alaroye).
The reporters had arrived the High Court in Otta to cover a murder case involving an alleged land speculator, Mutairu Owoye.
Mr. Owoye was arraigned over the death of 19-year-old man, Bidemi Akinde, during a land dispute at Oke-Ore community in Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of the state.
On arrival, the journalists were accosted by a police orderly who allowed them in after confirming their mission.
Minutes later, the assistant court registrar demanded to know the reporters’ mission and asked for a permit issued by the chief judge or a senior judiciary officer permitting them access to the court premises.
After explanations to her, the registrar left, but returned shortly after with an arrest order from the judge.
The journalists were detained for three hours (from 11:45am to 2:44am), inside the administrative wing of the court.
“I put you under arrest. You are under arrest,” the judge barked. “You will discover that this compound is fenced round, is that not so? It is not on the major road that you can just come in. If you are representing the public interest, you must know we have a head in this Court.
“I am a judge, I have an unlimited jurisdiction in the state. I can even say somebody should be arrested without question, but, in exercising my power, I have to inquire into many things,” the judge declared while ordering detention of the newsmen.
“You cannot say because you are representing public interest, you cannot just burst into any compound or burst into my house. You have a right as a journalist, but, where your own stops my own starts. And  If  I am the owner of a house,  I have a right to my privacy,  fundamental right to privacy, because  I want to educate you. If you want to infringe on my right that is where your own right stops which I am entitled to,” the man said.
“What I am saying is that judiciary has its own right too. You are infringing on our own right too. You don’t know?
“A report came to me that some people invaded the court claiming that they are journalists filming the whole place.
“It is not a local market and it is not an open market, you are approaching the court. If you are interested in a particular matter in a company, will you just burst into the company, saying you are journalists? You don’t just go into a place and start filming and them saying you are a journalist. If we said you are trespassing into our land, do you have any defence? Answer me now? I am telling you it is not a public place; I am telling you the court is not a public place,” the judge emphasized.emphasized.

However, an unexpected relief came for the detained journalists, when one of the court’s staffers was bitten by a snake which emerged from the court’s premises, throwing the court into pandemonium.
Following the confusion, the judge sent away the journalists as officials rushed the injured staff to the state hospital at Otta.

Gabrielle Union talks pressure to get pregnant at 42

The 42 year old who has been married twice but has no children opened up about the pressures of getting pregnant in the new issue of Redbook magazine. On IVF and the pressures of trying for a family later in life, Gabrielle said
"So far, it has not happened for us. A lot of my friends deal with this. There's a certain amount of shame that is placed on women who have perhaps chosen a career over starting a family younger. The penance for being a career woman is barrenness. You feel like you're wearing a scarlet letter."

On the weird thing about being married to a younger man...
"I realized his friends, his teammates, were conceived when I was, like, a senior in high school. I was in high school at the same time as their parents! Sometimes he'll be like, 'Oh, my God, he's so old!' about someone who's 35. But, Dwyane's an old 33, and I'm a young 42, so it balances out."
On how hard it is for working women with children...
"The reality is that women are discriminated against in the workplace for being mothers. As much as there are strides being made - you get pregnant, your career takes a hit. You can't have a bad day. Don't you dare cry at work. Don't raise your voice. Especially if you're a black woman in corporate America--now you're 'the angry black woman.'"The

Family Inheritance Messy details :Family Fight Over Inheritance Gets Messy as Daughter Sues StepMother to Court (Photo)

A daughter has sued her stepmother to court alleging that the stepmum is not legally married to her father and so does not have any right to inherit her late fathers estate.
Mrs Nnenna Enweliku (The daughter) had written a petition against her mother to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone Two, on January 27, 2014, alleging that her stepmother was not legally married to her father and that the marriage certificate she presented for the purpose of getting letter of administration for the estate of their late father, Lord Dike Udensi Ifegwu, was forged.
The police investigated and found nothing tangible to the effect.

Dissatisfied with the outcome of that investigation by Zone Two Police Command, she wrote a second petition to Deputy Inspector General of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja, detailing the manner and nature of the forgery.
Consequently, a fresh investigation into the allegation was launched by the police,
The mother (Lady Joyce Udensi-Ifegwu, Former chairman of defunct Citizens International Bank Limited) filed a counter suit at the federal high court, Lagos, seeking to halt a possible second attempt at investigation and arraignment by the police on the same matter.
Lady Ifegwu is praying the court to declare that the defendants lack the power to investigate allegation of forgery of marriage certificate against her for a second time. She said a suit pending in High Court of Abia between her and three others against the probate registrar and seven others dwells on the issue.
Her suit is supported by 37-paragraph affidavit where she swore that she was lawfully married under the Marriage Act, Native Law and Customs to the late Udensi Ifegwu until his death on July 18, 2012. She averred that they had eight children, including the petitioner who is her first child.
“After my husband’s death, one of my children namely Mrs Nenna Enweliku (nee Dike Udensi) petitioned the Nigerian Police at Zone 2 Command alleging that I was not lawfully married to her father and that I forged the marriage certificate evidencing my marriage to my deceased husband. On the strength of the petition, I was by a letter dated July 7, 2014 summoned to the Zone Two Command headquartes Onikan, Lagos,” she stated.
She added that she made statements on how her late husband misplaced the original marriage certificate obtained at Aba Local Government marriage registry in 1978.
She said they could not get a certified true copy of their marriage certificate in 1992 because a registrar whose name she could not remember informed them that tthe register containing their marriage certificate was lost in the process of moving documents from the marriage registry in Aba Local government to Aba South Local government.
On account of loss of the registry copy of my 1978 marriage certificate, the then registrar counselled my husband and I to register our marriage through the issuance of another marriage certificate duly signed by both of us in 1992 and also signed by the then marriage registrar.
“In the course of being interrogated by the third defendant, I was informed by him that another petition was written to the second defendant to by daughter on the same subject of allegation of forgery which had earlier been investigated by officers of Zone Two and which is also a live issue in the suit pending at the High Court of Abia State.
“On August 18, 2015, I was summoned by the third defendant to his Milverton Road, Ikoyi office. During the meeting, the third defendant informed me that he has established that my marriage certificate was forged and that unless I withdraw suit No. HU/159/2013, which I instituted at the Abia State High Court, he will make sure that I face trial for forgery with maximum publicity given to my arraignment and trial,” she swore.
A LITTLE TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE
The first son of the late Igbo billionnarie, Chief Dike Udensi who was also former chairman of defunct Citizens International Bank, Udensi Ifegwu Udensi Jr. died around August 2014 under mysterious circumstances barely 1 year after inheriting his father’s vast estate. He reportedly died in a specialist hospital at Umuahia in Abia state, after a sudden undisclosed ailment. He was said to have been in charge of his late father’s estate and never allowing anyone access to the Estate. Some say he was privileged to bé in charge of the late father’s chain of businesses because he was the first son and the only one among the children that was attending to their father when he had health challenges.
Prior to his death, the first son was said to bé at loggerheads with his uncles and other siblings, and the second wife of his late father, Mrs Joyce Udensi. There were several calls from different quarters to make him see reasons towards sharing of the vast estate but he remained adamant, instead, sources said he hired the service of Army officers to guard him everywhere until his untimely death. He grew up in London and also had a home in Umuahia, the Abia State capital . He died at 38. He was the first son to the late Lord Dike Udensi and his first wife, Eunice Udensi.
It is worthy of note that the late billionaire lord Dike Udensi died after a long battle with diabetes which resulted to an unending battle with foot decay. After his death, it took the family over a year to organise his burial because of the battle of who controls his vast estate between his 2 wives Eunice Dike Udensi and Joyce Dike Udensi.
It took an injunction from a court sitting in Ohafia local government area of the state to order his burial. The court had to intervene after a petition was filed by the late business mogul’s daughters from his second wife, saying they were not carried along in the burial plans and the sharing of his estate and therefore the burial bé stopped.
The court session held on 11 July 2013 in Ohafia. The presiding judge in his judgement said the burial should go on as planned on 12 July in Abiriba. Abia state, stating that it is unheard of in Igboland where a dead man’s property were shared while the body was still in the mortuary.
Shortly after he was buried the battle on who controls his business empire continued.

Aisha Buhari calls for the enforcement of rape laws in Nigeria

Wife of President Buhari, Aisha Buhari has called for the enforcement of rape laws in Nigeria. Mrs Buhari made the call at a meeting she had with Ministry of Women Affairs, UNICEF and National Population Commission, led by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Ezekiel Oyemomi at the state house Abuja yesterday September 14th.
"We are aware of the national law on rape passed this year on May 25(Prohibition Act 2015) which states imprisonment ranging from 12 to 20 years. I advocate for the enforcement of this law at all levels. Unfortunately, children are the most vulnerable, being exploited at different stages of their lives. A number of cases on violence against women and children are being reported on daily basis with the most alarming one of those happening in higher institutions of leaning. These include sexual harassment and assaults of female students by lecturers as a result of lack of laws and appropriate actions against the perpetrators," she said

Buhari govt lacks economic direction, says PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party has accused President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government of lacking economic direction.

It therefore urged the All Progressives Congress’ administration to pay urgent attention to the management of the nation’s economy.

The party said its worry stems from the result of the assessment it made which showed that the economy had remained on a rapid fall in the last four months. This, the PDP said, was due to lack of a clear-cut fiscal policy direction and an economic team to deal with the domestic and global challenges associated with a developing economy.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, said this in a statement in Abuja on Monday.

Metuh said, “Whereas the PDP is in full support of the President’s efforts in tackling corruption and insurgency, the party is however concerned about the grave economic situation we now face, as well as indices from global economic watchers, which this administration has failed to give deserving attention, despite its predictable negative impact.”

Metuh said as a responsible party, it was the duty of the PDP to draw the President’s attention to the fact that under the prevailing circumstances, the nation was heading to economic doldrums.

He said, “Mr. President, this is no longer about politics and partisanship. It is about the economy of our dear nation and the well-being of the Nigerian citizens.

“Recall that we have severally in the past, drawn attention to official reports showing that the unemployment situation in the country as well as inflation rate are growing at frightening dimensions, let alone the continued decline in domestic and direct foreign investments, all due to uncertainty created by the lack of economic direction of the APC-led administration.

“The situation has become even of utmost concern following the failure of this administration to articulate any interventionist policy at this critical moment, when credible global economic monitors have continued to predict that oil price may fall to as low as $20 per barrel.

“It is worrisome that whilst other countries are taking deliberate steps to enhance their investment profiles and hedge their economies at this time, the APC-led Federal Government has done nothing in that direction, but has centered on partisan politics and a witch-hunt of perceived opponents, while the economy remains vulnerable and unattended to.

“We caution strongly that this approach to governance is not healthy for our nation. Indeed, the time has come for Mr. President to end the apparent lethargy in his administration and take urgent step to set up a crack economic team of experts to immediately swing into action and salvage the situation by opening up all economic outlets, which have been stagnated in the last four months.”

In managing this economy, Metuh urged the President, as the father of the nation, to look beyond partisan politics and ensure that the policy framework and populist economic projects laid by the PDP administration, especially in the non-oil sectors were not dumped.

He said, “In this regard therefore, we wish to draw attention to various agricultural projects and programmes established by the PDP, especially in the northern states, such as various dams and irrigation projects, the e-wallet financial empowerment system to farmers associated to the over two million direct farm jobs, as well as the Green Belt project under the Presidential Initiative on Afforestation in Kano and 10 other northern states, all in line with the PDP’s agenda to return the region as the food basket of the nation.”

But the National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has described the PDP’s statement on the nation’s economy as part of the opposition’s ploy to distract the Buhari administration from its onerous task of putting the nation on a sound footing.

Mohammed in a statement noted that the PDP’s statement was a litany of delusional self praise, rather than a genuine concern about the nation’s well being.

‘’The question the PDP should ask itself is that if it had laid a solid foundation for the economy in its 16 years in charge, could such a foundation have given way in just three months of a new administration?
‘’If the PDP had been as fantastic as its statement had portrayed, it would still be the ruling, rather than the opposition party that it is now.
‘’It is therefore important for the PDP to concentrate its attention on remaking its tattered image rather than continuing to act as a desperate attention-seeking opposition,’’ Mohammed said.
