”I Found Out I was Conceived after My Father Raped My Sister when She was 15”

Rowena Slusser, 37, was conceived through incestuous rape, but has managed to build a happy family life and come to terms with the horror that led to her birth.
When I was younger, I felt like I had the word ‘incest’ tattooed on my forehead and that, somehow, everyone would know the truth about me. Because when I was 10 years old, I discovered I was conceived after my father raped my sister.
Shaken by the terrible truth of my birth, I had to bury my secret deep inside me until I was ready to speak out and have counselling. And now, after a long journey, I’m finally able to live with my past.
Growing up, and despite the 15-year age gap, my big sister Becca was my closest friend in the world. She loved to tickle my tummy or make me giggle.

However, happy ties were few and far between in our house. My dad Ruben Garza was a priest and, to the outside world, he was a pillar of the community. But behind closed doors he ruled over the family with an iron fist. We crept around the house never knowing when he’d lash out.
Often drunk, he’d play Russian roulette with a gun and would pick on us for regular beatings, torturing us by holding knives to our throats, flying into rages if we spilt something or dropped something on the floor.
But there was an even sicker side to him. Fondling me and touching me whenever he got the opportunity, he began grooming me when I was just a baby and was forever touching me inappropriately.
One evening when I was four years old, Becca was giving me a bath. As I got out and she wrapped the towel around me, she suddenly said: “You love me, don’t you? I want you to know I’m really your mummy, not your sister.” “Don’t be silly. I’m telling Mum what you said,” I shouted back, running in to speak to my mum and dad.
To my horror, they said it was true and that because Becca had been so young – just 15 when she gave birth to me – my grandparents had decided to act as mother and father to me.
The beatings and the fear continued at home and by the time I was nine, Becca couldn’t stand it any more. Wanting to protect me, she decided we should escape and began hiding clothes and money.
Then one day in November 1988, when I was 10, she came to get me from school, having told Ruben and Rosa she was taking me to the doctor. But racing off from school, we drove for five hours to meet trusted friends who had stored our things at a safe house.
Escaping the abuse
We phoned Rosa and Ruben to say we weren’t coming back and, although they were furious, we felt safe for the first time.
But just a few months later, Becca had another devastating bombshell for me – it wasn’t a family friend who had raped her and got her pregnant. It was our father.
Once again, my world had been completely turned upside down. I could hardly begin to take it in. Becca said she’d told a teacher who tried to get the authorities involved but by the time the police started asking questions, she was just too terrified to tell the truth. All she could do now was protect me from Ruben’s clutches.
Four months later, we moved into our own place. But as the years passed, I convinced myself I must be cursed. I was worthless, disgusting. Not only had I been conceived in rape but I was a product of incest. I became terrified about what kind of a person I was going to turn into if I’d been created like this.
I couldn’t bear to tell anyone what happened to me, I hardly had any friends and was terrified of boys and intimacy.
The year before I went to university, we got word that Rosa was ill with breast cancer so we made the journey to visit her before she died in 1996.
Once back at home, I threw myself into student life and volunteered to work for the ‘outreach’ charity with local children. At a session, I made friends with another volunteer, a boy called Casey. Flattered and excited when he asked me out, I was also filled with dread as I knew I’d have to tell him the truth about me.
But to my amazement, he didn’t run out the door that minute. Instead, we took things slowly and decided to wait until we were married to sleep together.

I started counselling, which, together with my faith, really helped me come to terms with everything that had happened and answered a lot of questions about how to cope with the future.

Seeing what a kind, gentle person Casey was, Becca gave us her blessing and we married in October 1999.
Looking to the future

Soon afterwards we started trying for children. But, as if I hadn’t been through enough, I suffered three miscarriages before finally becoming pregnant with my son David in 2001. The doctors told me the miscarriages were a genetic fault, probably due to being a product of incest.

Three years later I had my daughter Erin, now 11. Having a little girl made me feel anxious and paranoid that the same fate could await her. But seeing the love that Casey, 37, had for the kids, I knew he would help me keep them safe.

In 2003, one of my older sisters called me to say Ruben was having open-heart surgery and had only a 50% chance of survival. In spite of everything he’d done to us, I felt I had to say goodbye to him. So drawing on all my strength, I went to visit him and he apologised for the abuse. But deep down I knew he didn’t believe what he was saying.

He survived the operation and we spoke occasionally on the phone. He asked to meet my children but I’d never let them anywhere near him.

Becca and I went to see him again in 2009, two years before he died. This time I decided to forgive him. I had to move on and this was one way of doing it.

Over the last few years I’ve been involved in campaigning to raise the profile of sex victims and people who’ve been conceived in incest, and even wear a placard that says, ‘Conceived from rape/incest. I love my life’.

Of course not a day goes by when I don’t think about the pain that was caused by the way I was brought into the world.
But thanks to Casey, the kids and a lot of therapy, I’ve been able to look to the future.

Check out this photoshoot pregnancy of a woman expecting quintuplets

Kimberly Tucci, is an Australian mother of two who had tried for 1 year to have another child. She got pregnant and visited the Doctors for a maternity check. When she got there, she got a huge surprise! She's having five babies at the same time!

Tucci wrote on her Facebook page, Surprised By Five:
“My suspicion of a possible multiple pregnancy grew due to the quick rise of the pregnancy hormone. I was excited at the possibility of twins but absolutely nothing on this earth could have prepared me for what happened next.” At her first ultrasound, the sonographer spotted multiple gestation sacks.
“The sonographer started to count ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE!” Tucci said. “Did I hear that correctly?? FIVE?? My legs start to shake uncontrollably and all I can do is laugh. The sonographer then told me the term for five is QUINTUPLETS!!”
There’s just a one in 55,000,000 chance of conceiving quintuplets naturally, which was happened in her case.
Tucci then called her husband, who quickly drove to the doctor’s office. She said:
“I could see the excitement in his face,” “He told me, ‘We can do this.’”
The couple are expecting four girls and one boy.

Tucci’s pregnancy has been anything but easy but she says al.

US John Kerry speaks on the arms deal scandal, applauds Buhari's anti-corruption drive

United State Secretary of State, John Kerry, has applauded President Buhari for his anti-corruption drive. Speaking at the ongoing World Economic Forum holding in Davos, Switzerland, Kerry spoke on corruption and how it threatens global stability, growth and future. He drew example from Nigeria, its fight against Boko Haram and how findings from the arms deal investigations showed that corruption stalled the fight against terrorism...

“When Nigeria’s President, Buhari, took office last spring, he inherited a military that was under-paid, underfed and unable to protect the Nigerian people from Boko Haram. One reason is that much of the military budget was finding its way into the pockets of the generals. And just this week, we saw reports that more than 50 people in Nigeria, including former government officials, stole nine billion dollars from the treasury,” he told the delegation

Man stabs 7 months pregnant neighbour after she catches him trying to rob her

A mother of two, Mrs. Oyinyechi Chinaka, who was 7 months pregnant with her 3rd child, was reportedly stabbed several times by her neighbor when she caught him rummaging through her purse and trying to steal money from it in her home on Anjorin street, Mushin, Lagos. She was quickly rushed to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, but she lost the pregnancy.
The suspect was said to have stabbed Mrs. Chinaka with a kitchen knife severally times on her stomach, arm and neck and left to bleed to death.

The victim, who spoke to Sunday Vanguard on her hospital bed said:
“ I was at home that fateful day when my children came to me in the kitchen where I was cooking to say electricity had been restored, and that I should come to the living room to play a cartoon video, called Power Ranger, for them. I left what I was doing and   went to operate the television for them. But to my astonishment, I saw the neighbour in my room. He was going through my purse to steal money. I caught him red handed. He was shocked .I said, ‘ So, you are the one stealing all the money that has been missing in this compound’. I was shocked because I trusted him and we had never quarrelled before. I usually left my children with   him and he entered  my house the way he liked, but for him to be stealing was shocking to me. As I was still talking to him, he ran out of the room and before I knew what was happening,  he came back with a kitchen knife and told me that he will stab me with it. I thought he was joking but to my shock, he moved close and, as I attempted to escape, he held me and started stabbing me with the knife . He stabbed me until I lost consciousness. I did not know what happened next. I only found myself in  hospital and, after surgery, I was revived. My husband told me that I was stabbed and would have died but for God’s mercy. I could not feel my baby anymore. I was seven months pregnant but my baby was not kicking”.
Mr. Henry , Mrs Chinaka’s brother- in-law, explained the trouble the family went through to get medical help for her.
“When we heard that she was stabbed, the family rallied round and rushed her to LUTH. Doctors told us that she had to use the only   ICU machine but a lot of people were on queue to use it. We ran helter skelter to look for money to deposit for her treatment. We had to deposit N500,000 and we have spent more than a million naira   on her treatment but nobody knew who stabbed her and she was on life support machine for months  . Unknown to us, the assailant’s elder brother had reported him to the police at the Olosan Police Station and the police had charged him to court for attempted murder without carrying out thorough investigation nor did they visit the woman in the hospital” , Henry said.
“ We  have been prevailing on the police to include the case of murder in the charge against the assailant  because the woman lost her seven months old pregnancy due to the stabbing. The baby is in the mortuary but the DPO of the Olosan Police Station and the IPO are not ready to cooperate with us as they went on to charge the boy to court without hearing from the family of the victim. We are appealing to the police to revisit the case and amend the   charge to include murder. We want justice to be done.”
In his statement to the police, the suspect said he was pushed by an evil spirit to stab Mrs. Chinaka.
“I went to her house to steal money. She caught me but a spirit told me to stab her, so I went to the kitchen and took the knife and stabbed her with it. I stabbed her because I did not want her to reveal to other neighbours that I am a thief. I fled the house when I saw blood gushing out. It was my brother who exposed me. He saw a cut wound on my hand and he questioned me where I got it. I had to confess to him that I used knife to stab Mrs Chinaka. My elder brother took me to the Olosan police station and I was arrested”.

A human rights activist, Mr. Ishola Agbodemu, urged the police to get justice for the victim especially since her unborn baby was murdered.
“If she had not been stabbed and made to go through such a terrible experience, she would have given birth to a child by now.   The child’s murder should not be overlooked by the police”, Agbodemu said.

(Graphic Photos) Mum finds three tumours under birthmark on forehead after it burst during childbirth

A mum was in for a shock after doctors told her what lay beneath her birthmark which exploded during pregnancy.
Mum-of-five Sam Davies, had lived with the blemish on her forehead for all her life.
And despite being bullied about the mark by school mates who called her "the unicorn" she thought nothing more of it.
However, after the blemish burst, the 31-year-old discovered what three tumours underneath.

Sam, from West Lancashire, and her husband Paul had already had four daughters, Kati, nine, Amy, eight, Lorna, four, and Kayla, three, before falling pregnant with a boy.

During her first four pregnancies Sam said her birthmark would flare up.
However, Sam said when she was expecting a son, the bump on her skin “went out of control”.

She told The Sun: “As my bump grew, the birthmark grew too. It was like a monster. My doctors believe that the male hormones from carrying a boy were the trigger."
In her 32nd week of pregnancy, her birthmark exploded leaving her “panic stricken” with “blood shooting out of her head”.

Sam was rushed to hospital after losing a lot of blood and was immediately taken to surgeons to stitch up the wound.
She was monitored until her son, Paul Jnr, was born in March 2013.

A year after the birth she went to have her blemish checked and doctors found the tip contained three deadly tumours.
Doctors carried out life-saving surgery that left part of her skull exposed.
A year later Sam is still awaiting reconstructive surgery, but she says she is finally “pain free”.
The mum-of-five confirmed she isn’t planning on having any more children “just in case the monster wakes up again”.
