Nigerian man arrested for duping New Zealand woman of $250k
A suspected internet fraudster, Akintunde Vincent Abiodun, has been quizzed by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly defrauding a New Zealand woman the sum of $267,000 (Two Hundred and Sixty Seven Thousand New Zealand Dollars Only).
Akintunde, a 37-year-old HND holder from Federal Polytechnic Auchi, Edo State, is said to have defrauded the victim of the said amount by claiming to be Christopher Williams from United Kingdom.
According to the complainant, she met Akintunde in a dating site on the internet and allegedly fell in love with him. She said Akintunde started collecting money from her after he claimed to be in possession of gemstone worth $18,050,000 (Eighteen Million and Fifty Thousand Dollars ), which he purportedly inherited from his father. She further said, Akintunde hoodwinked her into believing that he was coming to New Zealand to settle down with her.
She alleged that the money she sent to the suspect were received in Malaysia and Nigeria by persons bearing Norisha, Jalan Klan, and Mohammed Haizam Bin Fauzin. All of them claimed to be friends of Akintunde. The suspect will be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is completed.

Reports from the area said the alleged murderer, identified as Onyekachi Ugwu, killed his father, as well as seven others with a cutlass in the early hours of Tuesday.It was gathered that the suspect, who was being searched for by the police and other security operatives had gone to the Ngelefi farm settlement in the night, when some members of the community were sleeping and hacked more than nine persons to death with his cutlass.Still not satisfied with his dastardly action, the suspect was said to have set his father’s house on fire, which left his father, domestic animals, motorcycle and other households burnt in the inferno.
It was further gathered that the suspect also visited other houses at the farm settlement, where he also sent occupants to their untimely death, including a year and a six-month-old baby.
Confirming the story, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amarizu, said that the police authority had begun investigation into the incident, adding that the alleged murderer was suspected to have mental case.
Amarizu said “search of the suspect is intensified by the combined team of the police and the Neighbourhood Watch group, who are combing bushes and hideouts in the area in order to stop further wrecking of havoc by the alleged mental suspect.
“The mother of the suspect was lucky to have escaped the incident, as she would have been counted as one of the victims,” the police imagemaker added.

"[He] had been partying since Friday. He was doing crack cocaine all weekend and he choked on his mucus. They're now having to fix all the damage it has done.
"Virtually every drug imaginable was found in his system."

Cheating Crime :Man kills bricklayer for sleeping with his wife
A 40-year-old bricklayer, Priye Bernard was on Tuesday shot to death at Odi in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State by another man who allegedly caught him having sex with his wife in a farm.
It was gathered that the late bricklayer followed the woman to the farm to harvest cassava, and was allegedly having sex with her when her husband arrived.
Daily Trust gathered that the woman’s husband then shot the bricklayer with a locally made gun.
Sources in the community said the corpse of late Priye Bernard had been deposited at Ebidom mortuary in Odi.
It was gathered that the police in Odi had arrested the wife of the Isoko man to assist in the investigation in the matter.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, Asinim Butwats, said the command was not yet aware of the incident.
He however assured that the command would investigate the matter.
