Bomb Explosion Rocks Biu, Borno State by itsdumebi
A suicide attack on a security post mounted by youth volunteers, popularly known as the Civilian JTF, has left at least 19 people dead at the Tashan Gandu Motor Park in Biu town, Borno state, Nigeria’s North-East region.
Reports say that two suicide bombers arrived the check point around 2:50 pm on Thursday and while the first attacked the youth volunteers on guard, the other bomber who attempted to trigger his explosive, while rescue efforts were on-going, was lynched by angry youths of the area”.
A member of the Biu Youth Volunteer Group involved in the rescue of those attacked told Channels Television on telephone, that two suspected members of the dreaded Boko Haram group launched the attack at the check point of the Tashan Gandu Motor Park, targeting youth volunteers and passengers at the park.
He said so far 15 bodies have been recovered while the injured have been taken to the Biu General Hospital.
While the youth volunteer member put the death toll at 15, officials at the Biu general hospital told Channels Television that 19 bodies were brought from the scene while 17 others are being attended to.
He also said some of the victims may be referred to other hospitals within and outside the state.
The suicide bombing is the second this week, after 34 people were killed in a blast at a bus station in the city of Kano, on Tuesday.
The death toll was revised upwards from the initial estimate of 10.Another blast hours earlier, also at a bus station, killed 17 in the commercial capital of Yobe state, Potiskum, but it was not confirmed as a suicide attack.
On February 18, 36 people were killed when assailants in a motorised rickshaw detonated explosives at Yarmakumi village near Biu, with most of the victims child vendors and beggars.
The attacks underscores the threat posed by Boko Haram, which experts say may resort to such tactics, as they are pushed out of captured territory in the northeast by the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF).

By Austin OgwudaEnugu—A middle-aged man narrowly escaped death in Enugu, yesterday, following an attack by angry teachers of Metropolitan Girls Secondary School located at Ogui New Layout.
The man, an Enugu-based contractor (names withheld), was beaten to pulp and stripped naked for allegedly impregnating a Senior Secondary, SS1, student of the school (names withheld)
Already, the randy contractor had been handed over to officials of National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
Vanguard gathered that the cat was let out of the bag when the victim suddenly slumped during morning assembly, bleeding profusely from her private part.She later named the contractor as being responsible for the pregnancy.
The contractor, who claimed to be a pastor, was lured to the school where he was mobbed.
Speaking with journalists over the issue yesterday in his office, the state Commissioner for Education, Professor Uche Okolo, confirmed the incident.He said: “A man was apprehended.
The man defiled a girl and she got pregnant.
The child was bleeding and rushed to hospital.“The school made a report to NAPTIP and the man came to the school to take the girl and he was arrested.
The good thing is that he has been apprehended. He should go and face the law.”

Check this out :Kano city was thrown into shock Wednesday as 18 years old housewife slaughtered his newly wedded husband at Darmunawa quarters of the metropolis.
The suspect identified as Rahma Hussaini allegedly committed the offence in her matrimonial home after a quarrel with the groom also identified as Tijjani Basiru 24.A neighbour, Isa Alhassan told Vanguard that the young couple got married last Friday, pointing out that “from what we heard the union was a product of forced marriage”.
Alhassan said that “we were alarmed by a frightening scream of a subdued man in need of rescue and we rushed to discovered that the man of the house was in his pool of his blood”.
He explained that “neighbours mobilized and took the groom to the hospital but Doctors confirmed him dead on arrival”.The eyewitness disclosed that the bride was handed over to the police that arrived in good time following a tip off.

A woman identified as Mrs Taiwo Sheriffdeen gave birth to a baby boy without arms in Ifo LGA of Ogun state on Tuesday February 24th.
According to a report by Punch, the woman gave birth to the baby, her first child, at Majotal Hospital, a private hospital in the Ilogbo area of Ado/Odo-Ota Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking on the birth of her deformed baby, the mother said her husband, Mudashiru Sheriffdeen, ran away after he was told that their child was deformed at birth (the baby pictured above).
“This is my first child and I do not know why I gave birth to this kind of a baby. Immediately my husband was informed that his son had deformity, he ran away and had not come to see me.
He is a commercial bus driver, and we had been married now for almost two years before God decided to answer our prayers.
When I was pregnant, we took every steps that the doctor directed us to take, but we did not know why we came about this calamity" she said.
According to the woman, her husband and the landlord of the place where she lives have asked her not to bring the child home. She also pleaded with the government to come and help her by adopting her baby
“I have been warned by both my husband and our landlord not to bring the child home.
The hospital management has asked us to leave the hospital.
Now, this child and I have nowhere to go, I don’t need this baby. I want government to adopt him.” she said

FEDERAL EXEXCUTIVE COUNCIL CHAIRED BY THE VICE PRESIDENT NAMADI SAMBO TODAY APPROVED THE ESTABLISHMENT OF NEW PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES IN NIGERIA .

The Federal Executive Council chaired by Vice President Namadi Sambo today approved the establishment of nine new private Universities in Nigeria.
The new Universities are; The Augustine University, Ilara, Lagos State; Chrisland University, Owode, Ogun State; Christopher University, Mowe, Ogun State; Hallmark University, Ijebu Itele, Ogun State; Kings University, Ode Omu, Osun State; Michael and Cecilia Ibru University, Orode, Delta State; Mountain Top University, Ogun State, Ritman University, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State and Summit University, Offa, Kwara State.
When the licenses are issued, it will bring to 60 the total number of private Universities in Nigeria.

Pandemonium broke out in a border village of Konshisha and Oju local government areas of Benue State when a suspected criminal, who was among the armed robbers that attacked a bank, was burnt to death.
CELEB NEWS ARENA .COM reportsRecall that suspected gunmen, armed with dangerous weapons and ammunition, numbering about 20, had, weekend, raided the First Bank branch in Vandeikya LGA of the state, carting away huge sums of money, and killed several others in the process.
The dare devil robbers had a gun battle with the police in the area while trying to escape.
The vehicle conveying the robbers, however, crash landed and somersaulted into the bush.
It was gathered that many of the robbers fled with bullet wounds and unfortunately for one of them, was apprehended by the villagers, and instantly set ablaze.
A villager who simply gave his name as Ejum told newsmen yesterday that, “One of the robbers who was trying to escape while the gun battle with the police was ongoing fell into the hands of the villagers and was given juggle justice”.
According to Ejum, the arrested culprit had confessed to being a member of the robbery gang and that the revelation angered the locals who could not wait for police intervention as they hung tyre on his neck and set it on fire.

The 8 Bayelsa PDP women and a driver who lost their lives in an accident after visiting Patience Jonathan were on Tuesday given a mass burial.
They were buried in 4 graves.The eight women alongside the driver, Mr. KelechiOyenkwuru, were buried in four graves at the Gloryland Cemetery, Azikoro, Yenagoa.
According to a close who attended the funeral,coffins containing the remains of three of the deceased were buried in one grave while the remaining were laid to rest in twos in three graves.
Archbishop Isreal Ek,the state Chairman of CAN conducted the burial.

Kim Kardashian and little North West brought mother daughter style to the mountains of Montana this week.
While dressing for freezing temperatures normally has little to do with fashion, the pair were dressed to impress as Kim took the 20-month-old for some fun in the snow at Big Sky.
