Mark Zuckerberg announces wife Priscilla Chan is pregnant with a baby girl - and that the couple suffered multiple miscarriages trying to have a child.

Mark Zuckerberg is going to be a dad.

The Facebook founder has announced that he and wife Priscilla Chan are expecting their first child together, a baby girl.

Zuckerberg also revealed that he and his wife have been trying for a few years to have a baby, and that they had suffered three miscarriages.

They do: Zuckerberg, 31, and Chan, 30, were married on May 19, 2012 in a quiet ceremony in their backyard

'Priscilla and I have some exciting news: we're expecting a baby girl!' wrote Zuckerberg on Facebook.

'This will be a new chapter in our lives. We've already been so fortunate for the opportunity to touch people's lives around the world - Cilla as a doctor and educator, and me through this community and philanthropy. 

'Now we'll focus on making the world a better place for our child and the next generation.'
