A woman was on Monday allegedly raped by a commercial motorcyclist, popularly called okada rider in Dutse, a community in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
City News reliably gathered that the victim was said to have boarded the motorcycle to her residence after closing from the day’s work when the incident happened.
The source said the motorcyclist was actually heading towards the woman’s destination but suddenly diverted and entered a bush where he forcefully had a carnal knowledge of her.
According to the source, the woman could not raise the alarm as the cyclist threatened to stab her with a knife which he suddenly brought out from his pocket.
City News further gathered that the cyclist also gave his victim a bite in the process before abandoning her, with a warning not to disclose her ordeal to anyone.
In another case, a 23-year-old suspected armed robber was arrested by the police at Dutse while allegedly robbing an apartment in the same area.
A police source said the suspect had gone for the robbery with his accomplice around 10.30p.m. and was carrying out the act when the police suddenly stormed the area following a tip-off by the owner of the house.
“As soon as we got a distress call by the victim, we swung into action immediately and apprehended one of them while the other escaped,” the source said.
When contacted, the Dutse divisional police officer, SP Hajiya Aisha Yusuf, confirmed both cases, saying a pistol was recovered from the suspect. She added that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for investigation.
She, however, said efforts were being made to arrest the commercial motorcyclist involved in the alleged rape.
