Drama Drama :Hubby catches wife cheating, gets beaten up by boyfriend and brutally knifed by wife
A MAN is battling for life at Masvingo Provincial Hospital after he was stabbed by his wife in the abdomen with a kitchen knife following an argument over the woman’s alleged infidelity.
Tracy Kamukosi, 23, of Chesvingo, allegedly stabbed Godfrey Mende, 26, on the right side of the abdomen.
Mende was rushed to Masvingo Provincial Hospital where he is still admitted.
His condition is said to be stable but critical.
The incident occurred on Sunday at around 9 PM.
Masvingo police spokesperson Inspector Charity Mazula said Kamukosi is in custody assisting police with investigations.
She will appear in court soon facing a charge of attempted murder.
“I can confirm receiving a report of a woman from Chesvingo who stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife. We’ve since arrested the woman after the matter was reported at Chesvingo police base,” said Insp Mazula.
Residents said on the day in question, Mende was coming from Yeukai Shopping Centre when he met Kamukosi in the company of an unidentified man at around 6PM.
They said Kamukosi and her male friend were hugging each other near their place of residence.
Upon seeing the two lovebirds, Mende confronted the man but the daring “lover” beat up Mende.
Witnesses said Mende took to his heels leaving Kamukosi behind.
“Mende went straight home after which Kamukosi followed. While at home at around 9PM, Mende slapped Kamukosi once on the cheek and a fight broke out. The enraged Kamukosi picked a kitchen knife and stabbed Mende on the right side of the abdomen once before fleeing the scene,” said a witness, Patricia Sithole.
Sithole said Mende’s brother, Fleming, 27, who resides at the same house with their sister, arrived from the shops and found Godfrey lying in a pool of blood.
Fleming then rushed Godfrey to Masvingo General Hospital where he was admitted into the intensive care unit (ICU).
A report was made at the police base leading to Kamukosi’s arrest.
Insp Mazula appealed to members of public to seek counselling when they have some differences instead of resorting to violence.
