Leader of robbery gang tormenting Lagos banks, arrested


Clement Abanara, who usually disguises as a woman during operations, was arrested over the weekend by operatives of the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team, IRT, in
Benin, Edo State.

He was arrested in an apartment at the Osayande Estate. Abanara aka Million, allegedly took part in the Lekki, Ikorodu, Festac and Agbara bank robberies (all in Lagos), where his gang carted away millions of Naira, destroyed several vehicles and left several persons, including policemen and a pregnant woman, dead. .

Million is also an experienced kidnapper, who has over 8 rifles in his possession. He once kidnapped the former Majority Leader of Lagos State House of Assembly, Tofeeq Adeniji. He also kidnapped his son who had gone to pay a N4m ransom for his dad. They were both released after additional ransom was paid. .

4 members of the gang arrested along side one of their financiers, took the operatives to a mansion built by Million, but met the house empty. The operatives then trailed his wife to Warri Delta State, where she was arrested before taking the police to Benin, where her husband was arrested in a rented apartment.
