Though young, Penuel is almost known all over Africa for his strange utterances and the way he commands his members to do things many have said isn’t biblical. 

He had one time asked them to eat grass, drink petrol and most recently asked them to eat live tiny snakes and also rode on some like riding on a donkey.

A Nurse Arrested For Stealing Baby In Ogun State.

The Police in Ogun have arrested a nurse, Adebola Titilayo, for stealing a new born baby shortly after delivery in Arogun village, Ogun state in desperation to have a child for her wealthy husband.

Adebola who is the proprietress of a private Maternity in Arogun community in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state, was apprehended by Police detectives attached to the Ewekoro Division of Ogun State Police Command.

She was said to have stolen the child after delivering the mother of the baby in her (Adebola) maternity last June 13.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who disclosed the arrest to reporters on Sunday, said the suspect was arrested last Friday while the baby was also rescued safely.

Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), added that the suspect had lied and deceived the mother of the baby that she had a still birth and that the baby was dead.

According to the Police Image maker, the biological mother of the baby later got reliable information that the suspect stole her baby and the Police immediately arrested her when notified about the theft.

Adejobi said:”the good sympathizers in the community noticed that the nurse (suspect) who was never pregnant suddenly started nursing a baby that she could not even breast feed. They informed the mother who later reported the case to the police in Ewekoro on 7th August,2015

“In the course of police investigation, It has been revealed that the suspect, a mother of seven(7), had issues with her initial marriage and got married to another “rich” man, whom the nurse wanted to have at least a baby for him, for reasons known to her.

“The police Operatives, who made professional moves, have recovered the baby alive and unhurt. The suspect has given credible statement that will assist the police and the matter will soon be charged to court.

“The Commissioner of Police Ogun State, Abdulmajid Ali, has commended the police operatives for the good Job they did and directed that a proper investigation be carried out so as to get useful information required in the prosecution of the case.

” Ali has also charged owners of hospitals or maternity homes to operate legally and always employ credible and trusted nurses and staff who will be committed to their duties and respect the ethics of their professions and the laws of the land.”

What I hate about media – Obasanjo

Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has said that he did not hate the media as being rumoured, saying, he hates ‘ irresponsible journalism’.

Obasanjo said this recently while hosting the state correspondent of Premium Times ,Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji on his birthday held at Obasanjo Hilltop Private Residence in Abeokuta,Ogun State Capital.

Obasanjo who stressed that ,he was not against genuine criticism from the media, saying, journalists are expected to play meaningful roles in the society.

He advised that the practitioners must always be sincere and committed to the ethics of the profession.

He said “I remain myself and I will continue to remain myself in being blunt. I don’t hate the media,but there are some bad eggs in the profession,and this must not be allowed,and the truth must be told. However,not all journalists are bad”.

He however, disclosed that he had discussed extensively the menace in the profession in his book,’My Watch’,stressing that ‘bad journalism’ should not be allowed to strive.

He said he would not stop to condemn such act in all ramifications and would continue to celebrate the good ones.

Touching Story: Obese sisters walk unaided for the first time after shedding some of their colossal weight.

This is the touching first moment that two morbidly obese sisters walked together unaided for the first time after losing some of the massive weight that has hindered their young lives.

Yogita Rameshbhai Nandwana, 5, and Amisha, 3, finally took their first steps without help after specialists put them on a restrictive diet because their parents were so concerned for their health.

Just three months ago, they weighed 5st 5lbs and 7st 8lbs respectively, and were unable to do anything for themselves.

They have managed to each lose six kg after departing from their daily diet of 18 chapatis, 3lbs of rice, two bowls of broth, six packets of crisps, five packs of biscuits, 12 bananas and a litre of milk.

Their brother, Harsh, who weighed 2st 5lbs when he was just 18 months old, has also been on a diet to try and curb his obesity.

Their constantly increasing weight got so concerning to their impoverished father, Rameshbhai Nandwana, 34, who earns just £35 a month, considered selling a kidney to pay for medical help.

He said: ‘If my kids continue to grow at this rapid rate they will have major health issues. We’re terrified they will die.'

But now the three children are finally making progress and the family help it will change their lives in the long term.

The three children's extreme hunger meant their mother Pragna Ben, 30, spendt most of her day making their meals.

Before the diet started, she said: ‘My day starts with making 30 chapatis and 1kg vegetable curry in the morning. After that I am again in the kitchen preparing more food.'

We started looking for medical help and consulted many doctors but they would just refer us to bigger hospitals that I couldn’t afford.’

Mr Nandwana earns just Rs 3000 (£35) a month - but usually has sufficient money to buy enough food to fulfil the large appetite of his children.

He said: ‘I am a daily wage labour and I usually get paid Rs 100 a day but there are times when there is no work at all.

‘I work in fields, dig wells, and do whatever menial job I can find to earn money. 

'And I’m constantly worried about finding the money to feed my continually hungry children.’

Despite his paltry income, Mr Nandwana spends about Rs 10,000 (£110) a month on food for his children and said he 'cannot leave them starving'

He added: ‘If I don’t have the money, I borrow it from my brothers and friends. But I make sure I feed my children when they need.’

The father has spent Rs 50,000 (£540) on seeing doctors and treatment over the last three years – without any improvement in his children’s condition.

He said: ‘No one in our family has a giant frame. Only my children are overweight. As parents, it pains us immensely to see them unable to move.

‘They cannot walk; they cannot do anything on their own. Selling my kidney is a desperate measure. But I’m now desperate to get the right help for my children.’

Miss Ben cannot pick up her children so she has to watch them roll around when her husband is at work - or use a trolley to pull them around.

She said: ‘They need me to help them bathor when they need the toilet. I’m only 40 kg so it’s impossible for me to pick them up.

‘It’s a struggle when my husband is at work. 

'They are usually restricted to the same place for the whole day and because of that, they cannot go to school.

All they do all day is eat and play and giggle with each other.  

'I want my daughters to get an education and play like other kids. I want them to have a life. This is no life.’

Local doctors believe the children are suffering from Prader-Willi syndrome, but do not know how to treat it.

The rare genetic condition causes various symptoms including constant hunger, reduced muscle tone, restricted growth and learning difficulties.

Dr Akshay Mandavia, a paediatrician at Mandavia Children's Hospital in Gujarat, said: ‘There is an abnormal accumulation of fat in these children.

‘They’re not able to breathe properly, and they wheeze. Their condition could be due to endocrinal disease or Prader-Willi syndrome.

‘But we can only ascertain the right treatment after a proper diagnosis at one of our top hospitals.’

Horrific injuries suffered by aspiring model left scarred for life after being shoved through a plate glass window by her best friend

A model has been left with horrific scarring after her best friend pushed her through a glass window - as the victim celebrated landing her first professional contract.

Lasha Horton was lucky to be alive after broken glass sliced her face almost from ear-to-ear, only narrowly missing her eyes.

But the pretty 26-year-old has been left with a permanent reminder of the attack - a huge gash across her cheeks, nose and brow.

Not only did the assault nearly rob her of her sight, she feared it had robbed her of her £15,000 a year modelling career.

Lasha had thrown a party at her home for ten of her friends, to celebrate signing a modelling contract with top London agency Demus Castings in October 2012.

But during the evening, her friend of five years, Genavese Justin, became aggressive and began shouting at another guest.

She was asked to leave but on her way out, Justin struck out and grabbed Lasha's hair before smashing her head through glass doors.

Lasha was bleeding on the floor as her attacker fled, leaving other horrified guests to call an ambulance.

She would spend the next two days in hospital following the brutal attack, as plastic surgeons battled desperately to repair a jagged scar running from her left ear to the corner of her right eye. 

'If the glass had hit me elsewhere in my face I could have lost my sight,' said Lasha, who was determined not to let the experience stop her following her dream to model.

'My modelling dreams were shattered the second my best friend put my face through that window,' she added.

'The attack ruined my life but I'm determined not to let her ruin my future.

'ANo s it is I have arranged to see plastic surgeons and they have told me that because I am mixed race it will be difficult for the scar to be erased completely so I am scarred for life.

'It's really upsetting because I've done a lot of charity work as a model and now I can no longer do that.

'I also had shoots lined up which I couldn't fulfil.'

Justin, then 24, was later spared jail after admitted wounding as she was handed a 14-month suspended prison sentence in May 2013 for the sake of her daughter.

Incredibly, despite suffering disfiguring scars, Lasha has forgiven the friend who ruined her life.

Lasha said: 'I'll never know why she did it but I've forgiven her.

'I'm much stronger now, and I'm determined to not let my scars ruin my life.

'My scars are beautiful, and if I can inspire one other woman to have confidence in herself, I'll be happy.'

Lasha was left with two five-inch scars across her face, and the glass was less than half an inch away from cutting her eyeball.

She needed 30 stitches to sew up her inch-deep wound, and medics told her that if the glass had penetrated just half an inch higher it would have punctured a vital artery and she would have died.

Traumatised Lasha, originally from Nottingham, struggled to come to terms with the attack and was prescribed antidepressants in April 2013.

She said: 'It took a while, but now I think I'm over it all.

'When Genavese smashed my head through that glass I thought I was going to die.

'Now, I'm trying to show that victims of violent crime shouldn't be made to hide away.

A woman named Kiran Gandhi just did the UNTHINKABLE. The 26 year old Harvard Business School grad who also played drums for singer M.I.A. and Thievery Corporation, decided to run the London Marathon without a tampon. Gandhi let her blood flow freely to raise awareness about women who have no access to feminine products and to encourage women to not be embarrassed about their periods.

"I ran the whole marathon with my period blood running down my legs," the 26-year-old wrote of the April race on her website. She claimed that she got her period the night before the big race and thought that a tampon would be uncomfortable while she ran. But that isn't the only reason she decided to let it flow.

"I ran with blood dripping down my legs for sisters who don't have access to tampons and sisters who, despite cramping and pain, hide it away and pretend like it doesn't exist."

He has been receiving treatments from specialists who were flown into the country on his behalf.

Armed Robbers Snatched Mohammed Babangida's Wife's Car, Properties In Kaduna

The police source explained that the armed robbers forcibly snatched her car at gunpoint before taking away unspecified amounts of money and other valuables from Mrs. Babangida.

bbers armed with guns stole a black colored 2015 Mercedes Benz S550 belonging to Mohammed Babangida's wife in Kaduna town in the early hours of Saturday, according to a senior officer in the Nigerian police. The source said the robbery took place in Ungwan Rimi area of the town.

Mrs. Babangida and the members of her security detail were unharmed during the daring robbery.

The police source explained that the armed robbers forcibly snatched her car at gunpoint before taking away unspecified amounts of money and other valuables from Mrs. Babangida. 

The source told SaharaReporters that the armed robbers had probably followed Mrs. Babangida before they stole her vehicle.

It was also learned that in addition to her car, the robbers stole an official rifle belonging to a member of Mrs. Babangida’s security detail.

9 Kogi workers die -Non-payment of salary

Nine out of the 142 staff placed on compulsory leave without pay since 2011 by the Kogi State Transport Company have lost their lives under hunger-related circumstances.

Two of the deceased’s’ colleagues– Mr Ndakwo Mohammed and Mr Anate Audu– who disclosed this in a statement circulated among media houses in Lokoja on Sunday, said that a number of their colleagues were also in life-threatening situations .

They said that the workers who had put in years of services ranging from 10 years to 23 years, had been facing untold hardship and were now in deteriorating health condition due to lack of money to feed and pay for medical treatment.

“Many of us have been ejected out of our houses and our children chased out of schools due to our inability to pay rents and schools fees,” the statement said.

It explained that all efforts to seek redress through the intervention of the state house of assembly and several letters to the state governor, Capt Idris Wada had proved abortive.

The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) recalls that the Kogi State Transport Company had, though a circular dated June 30, 2011 and signed by its General Manager, Mr Augustine Tokula, directed all the 142 members of staff of the company to immediately proceeded on compulsory leave without pay.

The fate of the workers have since then been hanging in the balance as the government has continued to remain silent on the matter.

Both Mohammed and Audu appealed to the state government to take a definite position on their matter, saying that they could no longer live with their present condition.

The workers have also indicated their interest to embark on peaceful protests on major streets of Lokoja, and have written to intimate the State Security Service and the police of their plan.

At least 12 killed as Mali hotel siege ends

Bamako (AFP) – At least 12 people including four foreign UN contractors died in a hostage siege at a hotel in central Mali that ended after government troops stormed the building.

“There are 12 dead in all,” an army officer told AFP after the operation at the Hotel Byblos in Sevare, listing the fatalities as five “terrorists”, five soldiers and “two white people”.

A senior source in the Malian army said the final toll had yet to be confirmed and would “probably” be higher.

The UN mission in Mali MINUSMA for its part said two Ukrainians, a Nepalese and a South African were killed in the almost 24-hour-long drama, as well as a Malian driver working for a company contracted by the mission.

It said four other UN contractors — two South Africans, a Russian and a Ukranian — were rescued and were in “good health.”

“The attackers did not detect their presence in the hotel and MINUSMA was in permanent contact with them throughout the attack and until its end,” it added.

South Africa’s foreign ministry said a 38-year-old man from Pretoria was killed in the siege while two other South Africans were safe.

Local media identified the victim as Roelof Janse van Rensburg. A foreign ministry spokesman said he was working for an aviation company hired by MINUSMA.

The Ukrainian foreign ministry said four of its nationals were caught up in the attack, one of whom was killed. One managed to escape while the other two were rescued in the dawn raid by security forces.

UN chief Ban Ki-moon denounced the attack, which comes as Mali is seeking to implement a June peace deal despite continuing unrest from militant groups and a spike in jihadist attacks.

“This attack will not lessen the determination of the United Nations to accompany the Malian people in their efforts to implement the peace agreement,” his spokesman said in a statement.

The US issued a statement that “strongly condemns” the attack, branding it “deplorable”.

 France also denounced “in the strongest possible terms” the siege and reiterated its support for the Malian security forces and MINUSMA “in the fight against terrorism”.

Located a few kilometres from the regional capital Mopti, Sevare is a key staging post on the road to Mali’s desert north which fell to Islamic extremists in 2012.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the assault, which began when gunmen burst into the hotel at around 7:00 am on Friday. At least one of the attackers was said to be wearing a belt of explosives.

Malian forces cordoned off the area but their efforts to dislodge the attackers were complicated by the presence of hostages.

There were exchanges of fire throughout Friday and the army brought the siege to an end early Saturday, with one source saying foreign special forces were also involved.

The UN mission said the initial target of the attack was a Malian military site.

“The attackers, who were pushed back by the Malian armed forces, then took refuge in a hotel,” MINUSMA said.

A Ukrainian hostage who managed to escape from the hotel said up to five gunmen had led the hostage-taking in Sevare, which lies 620 kilometres (385 miles) northeast of the capital Bamako.

Four Malian soldiers who lost their lives in the attack were buried in the town on Saturday in front of a large crowd of mourners, a local resident told AFP.

“As for the bodies of the hostage takers, they have been left where they are. No one has touched them,” the man, who did not wish to be named, said by phone.

The walls of the Byblos hotel were riddled with bullet holes after the attack. The body of an unidentified man was seen lying outside the building near a burnt-out van, pictures from the scene showed Saturday.

The attack was the third in Mali in just a week as it battles a resurgence in jihadist violence two years after a French-led offensive routed Islamist groups from their northern strongholds.
